The NZ Electricity Authority found that generator Meridian Energy manipulated the power market, spilling water, to burn coal to enable charging consumers top rates-for max profits- & costing consumers $80 million. Apparently they all did it. The price of #privatisation

The obvious #power solutions:
1. #Renationalise power as a not-for-profit service.
2. Subsidise rooftop #solar, #heatpumps H/W & heating, #EVs that can act as a battery to power homes in an emergency, or feed back to grid -with fair pricing
3. Build #community-owned wind farms & mini hydro-systems

If it's a plan, it fails even remotely to pass Blackadder's weasel test.

The bit that is really pissing me off, and I've been told this from the community, is that the combination of extra homeless from CBD and being kicked out of emergency housing has attracted the low-life dealers. Seeing a lot more drug-induced mental health issues locally.

The sad thing is that that is already happening in Wellington. Homeless people in CBD were moved out to Newtown. Problems arose and some were moved on to Kilbirnie.

Homelessness can only be solved by providing homes - a solution thus inept govt seems oblivious to.

"Removed $2.53billion from the NZ economy" should replace "posted a record $2.53billion" to fully express the magnitude of this crime against everybody.😡💩

your regular reminder also that there is excellent scientific evidence that we value research less when marginalised people do it (this paper is specifically about women in US-based research)
Gendered knowledge in fields and academic careers
Women and men often contribute differently to research knowledge. Do differences in these contributions partially explain disparities in academic care…
