Lots of elites, more than you think and more than publicly admit, believe science proves there are racial IQ differences or evolutionary psych proves women are less likely to succeed in certain professions. This has nothing to do with the quality of the science, and everything to do with deflection.
Why Elites Believe in Racial IQ Differences and Evolutionary Psych
Both help deflect critiques of elite status being less earned than elites want to think.

It's always great when the nationally televised NFL game is a clash between two titans with significant playoff implications.

I've been watching videos about a notes taking app I'm playing with and it's striking how the kinds of people who make personal knowledge management tips videos all read exactly the same array of pop neuroscience, sociology, and philosophy books.

The subject lines for emails from Google about their Google Family services always make the announcements sound much more momentous than they turn out to be.

I like staccato, telegraph-style prose. James Ellroy is my favorite prose stylist. But you have to be a damn good writer to pull it off, and this is not pulling it off.

Heritage, for its part, was so upset about this reporting that it threatened to sue Vox to try and stop publication. But we are confident in our source and our reporting.

Here's a gift link to the piece that Heritage tried to kill www.vox.com/on-the-right...
The toxic culture behind the right’s civil war
A Heritage insider alleging “openly misogynistic and racist” conduct shines a light on the right’s inner workings.

My source is highly placed — to my understanding, no one with their level of knowledge about Heritage's inner workings has ever spoken about this publicly.

And they got very specific about multiple allegations of naked bigotry www.vox.com/on-the-right...

In this new essay on the internal culture of the right, I report on something big: allegations by a Heritage Foundation insider that the organization has allowed a toxic culture of "open misogyny and racism" to grow among a segment of the staff

My first year in DC, I was at an event where Rick Scott spoke, a couple years before he was governor of FL. The Cato Institute's founder Ed Crane was there too and as Scott took the stage Crane leaned over to me and said, "That man's embezzled more money than anyone you'll see in your whole life."

They supported Trump precisely because they believed he would enable them to express their racism openly and without consequence.
Weird how many racists like to self-identify themselves as racists.

oh my fucking god he is 100% confusing cadillac insurance plans with people buying cadillacs

"and it's gonna be locked so they can't go out and buy, uh, a cadillac, they can go out and buy health insurance"
Trump on healthcare: "I've had personal talks with some Democrats about paying large amounts of dollars back to the people. This was my idea ... why don't we just pay this money directly to the people of our country and let them buy their own health insurance?"

This is a pretty good description of DC's Hirshhorn Museum building. (Even if it misspells the name.)

very funny to read these emails and then remember summers wondering whether the leaky pipeline in stem was because women are inherently bad at math
The emails have Summers reporting to Epstein about his attempts to date a Harvard economics student & to hit on her during a seminar she was giving.

Done. Though I'm going to need the racists to understand that, after this morning's farmer's carries, I am very sore.
Good morning.

This is your reminder to get to the gym so that you can beat up racists if you have to.

The argument works when there are alternatives to the thing, such that if the thing goes bad you can escape it. The state possesses a monopoly on the legitimate use of violence within its borders. If it goes bad, you can't just find another one.
random thought: "this thing is bad but it would be good if different people were in charge of it" isn't hypocrisy

Someone should get a projector and play this video on loop on the side of this guy's house.
Listen to this Border Patrol agent cry about how he's going to be DOXXED after being arrested for drunkenly barging into a woman's restroom with a loaded gun, demanding a date from the woman inside, and then punching the arresting officers.

Many of his comments this year suggests he consumes a ton of popularist content and very little pointing out the many flaws in that thinking. I assume his peer group is the audience that consumes popularist content, so he would need real intentionality to get other perspectives.
This is a straightforward Republican attack line, what the fuck is he doing

Went to a gaming store and discovered that the only tabletop RPG they carry is D&D. That's like going into a bookstore and discovering the only fiction they carry is Dan Brown.

Your choice of T-shirt sends a signal, and the guy at Costco wearing a "Teach your kids to change their oil, not their gender" T-shirt is signaling to the baby he's holding that she can't count on him to be a supportive father.
