What utter bullshit! For decades we've been told that the average consumer is the engine behind the economy. The rich aren't buying more groceries and other non-luxury items. They hoard their wealth by buying luxury items that can't be taxed, then borrow against them to have money, also not taxed.
This is the opposite of what is about as close as you get to an objective fact in economics.
