It’s past time for Dem leaders with massive social media platforms like @aoc.bsky.social @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social @barackobama.bsky.social @sanders.senate.gov @warren.senate.gov @chrismurphyct.bsky.social et al to leave or wind down on X.

Show some freaking moral leadership.
I'm a huge @aoc.bsky.social fan. But I'm so disappointed and furious that she's fundraising off Grok's kiddie porn spree while still using Twitter. Quitting Elon's csam production and distribution channel should be a no brainer. I'm cancelling my recurring contribution until that happens.

Wrote up my thoughts on all the nonsense replies I've been getting falsely claiming that @schumer.senate.gov can't do anything and I should stop telling him to do more.

There's a TON that he can do, as I outline in the piece. And he's doing basically none of it.

Remember: Just a few Republicans in Congress could stop this at any time. They are choosing not to because they like what Trump is doing.

“Oh but if Democrats did that Republicans would just vote it down, wouldn’t convict and would rally their base to defend Trump’s crimes.”

Yeah, okay, make them do that then.

My position on impeachment is the same as it was six months ago: Impeachment is first about driving public attention to Trump’s crimes and corruption.

Democrats should introduce impeachment articles and force votes to boost their parallel media effort.

Performative public investigations matter.
Why push for impeachment?

Because politics is an exercise in moving public opinion as much as counting votes in the senate.

The Jan 6 Hearings were not a criminal proceeding against Trump that would end in jail, but they focused public attention.

Another govt funding deadline is coming up in which Dems on paper will have leverage in the Sen.

If we had a true opposition - Schumer/Jeffries would use that leverage 2 rein in Trump instead of just looking to score messaging points on healthcare, affordability.

Otherwise this is all useless.
On whether Democrats would use the impending government shutdown in 30 days as leverage on Venezuela "Let's first get all the facts out. That's what we're endeavoring to do right now, and our first ability to do that will be the War Powers Act of this week."

The way the press is treating chatbots, like they have agency and they “know” things all of a sudden, crossed the line recently from dumb and obsequious to something else entirely. Treating them as alive and making conscious decisions is an almost religious belief. It won’t age well.

Outstanding context for understanding Zohran Mamdani.
‪A profound meditation on the meaning of Mamdani's mayoralty by @mollycrabapple.bsky.social - it's a map to the future that runs through New York's radical past. We are so much stronger, so much harder to manipulate, when we know our history.
