Hi Bluesky, I work at Maplesoft on the mathematical algorithms team. Mostly I am responsible for the care and feeding of the algorithms but they also make me muck out the cages. I should post more about math. Here's the Maple logo, but it's a ~20k digit prime number:
Since literally every weekend event in LA County has been cancelled, I am just sitting at home listening to Guns'n'Roses November Rain on repeat. #LArain

Do you take your work home with you? It's kinda hard to avoid if you are a mathematician. The maths just follows you wherever you go.

I wear a lot of hats. This weekend, it was an MWBA hardhat for a morning of clearing slides from a beloved trail damaged in the Eaton Fire. It's always a privilege to get access to closed parts of the forest, and we worked hard to make sustainable fixes to these trails. www.mwba.org/updates/mwba...

Hello, friends! After 10(!) years of #AdventOfCode, I've made some changes to preserve my sanity: there will be 12 days of puzzles each December (still starting Dec 1) and there is no longer a global leaderboard. Read more:

They're currently like the opposite of the old AoL business model. To fix that, Augment just needs a lot more customers who pay but don't actually use their service.
Jesus christ. AI coding platform Augment code had to jack up prices because 22.5% of their users were spending 20x of what they paid, and even after raising the prices, they're still running at a loss.

The whole tech industry blindly follows trends.

Post-pandemic layoffs, metaverse, NFTs, and lately “AI”.

Doomsday prepping is probably the next thing. If Zuck and Musk do it, they’re all gonna do it.

I highly doubt billionaires have some special insight the rest of us are missing.
Tech billionaires seem to be doom prepping. Should we be worried?
