Why climate change isn't about averages, it's about deviation from centuries-long past trends -- Winter Olympics edition

Totally agree.
The search, find function needs to be improved, @bsky.app
A key weakness of this site in miniature: I see a post that Lindsey Vonn has crashed.

I search her name. Nothing beyond some links to other sites (e.g., NBC; CBC). I click on "Latest" -- comments on the crash, but no video.

So go to X, search Vonn, a playable video is in top 3 results. Bam.

A student received a posthumous postcard from his former professor, Don Glickman, who was known for his humor. He instructed his daughter to send over 100 postcards.

The gesture went viral and reflected Glickman's unique approach to life and death.
A postcard arrived: ‘If you’re reading this I’m dead, and I really liked you’

With tax season in full swing, here's our reminder that TurboTax owner Intuit spent two decades fighting to prevent Americans from filing their taxes online for free.

Inside TurboTax’s 20-Year Fight to Stop Americans From Filing Their Taxes for Free
Using lobbying, the revolving door and “dark pattern” customer tricks, Intuit fended off the government’s attempts to make tax filing free and easy, and created its multi-billion-dollar franchise.

When I moved to Maryland, I had no idea what the flag meant or symbolized.
Zero of my students knew.
I venture to guess a majority have no idea re: the confederate connection.
Just a fact.

Shovel your damn sidewalks.
It’s been 11 days.
You’d think a company whose (former) CEO raked in nearly $30 million in 2024 could shovel the damn sidewalk.
Or the Baltimore police getting a coffee could issue a fine…

Profit over People.
A capitalistic story.
The people of East Palestine were poisoned when the rail company decided to burn off the toxic materials in some of the rail tank cars.

The National Transportation Safety Board concluded this "controlled burn" was unnecessary.

Pretty evil stuff. All for short term profits.

Did you know air pollution is the top preventable cause of premature death + ill-health in the world today: killing nearly 10 million people per year? And 2/3 of air pollution comes from burning fossil fuels?
