kids teacher just sent this home as part of an assignment he's doing and i want to smash every computer at the school
I don't think I did a post about it here when I started nearly a month ago, but I've started at iTnews as a Senior Tech Journalist. Learning lots of new things and covering tonnes of cool stuff - here's one from this morning :)

Scoop: OpenAI has signed its first ever Australia government contract, quietly inking a deal with Treasury amid the ChatGPT-maker's charm offensive on policymakers.

This modest contract is an ideal foothold into future, more lucrative deals, according to one firm's analysis.

Just to be blunt, if you want Wired and 404 and The Verge to employ reporters who understand the memes on bullet casings and can connect them to gaming culture while having the legal and support resources to deal with waves of harassment when we do it… you have to subscribe and pay for the work
the entire media ecosystem is just not built or ready for events like this and far right billionaires like larry ellison buying news orgs will only make this worse
Anyway, new job starts on the 15th! For now, I sleep.
This won't be the end of my car stuff though! TechRadar will continue to publish car reviews of mine now and again, and I'll be happy to write them for as long as I can. My Hyundai Inster oped will be up on Saturday night!
Time for something a little different - today was my last day at TechRadar AU. I had a lot of fun there and was so grateful for the opportunity coming out of Gizmodo AU, but for my next job I'll be entering b2b/enterprise tech journalism.
We had some back and forward on recommending routers with those speeds because they're not too common and are all a bit pricey, but it was mostly about headroom. Up to 11 Gbps will certainly work, and you may be comfortable with as low as 4 Gbps (though I would recommend ethernet between mesh)
Not a typo, but more a problem with only having so many words in a magazine format! I recommend 11-19Gbps wireless for optimal NBN 2000 for the sake of over-provisioning throughout the home and future-proofing. We put together a much more in-depth article on the topic on TechRadar:
Keen on NBN Co's big free speed boosts this September? You might also need a new router
To get the best speeds on the new faster plans, your router may need an upgrade too

I've been waiting for that game for years!! Can't wait to play the full release.

Tesla FSD turns off more US consumers than it attracts according to an August survey of 8,000 respondents by Slingshot. And about half of those surveyed think FSD should *be illegal* the way its advertised and works now.... www.cnbc.com/2025/08/28/t...
Tesla FSD turns off more U.S. consumers than its attracts, survey finds
Despite Elon Musk's exhaustive promotion of Tesla's FSD technology, U.S. consumers don't seem to want it.

i'd assume soil, but if you're digging a hole on Mars, do you hire a Mars Mover?
Large cap with a caramel shot + some chips. There's not many things a veggo can eat on the maccas menu 😭
I will deduct points accordingly! No H mode, but there IS a snow mode.
Double posting to forward sizzle my review: the Hyundai Inster might just be my favourite EV since the MG4, and there's things it definitely does better than that brilliant car. I'm sad to have dropped it off 😭
😄 I'm really falling for the Inster. It's a bit ahead of some of its Chinese rivals in some areas (thinking the BYD Dolphin, MG4, Ora) and honestly feels fine for weekends away in Australia
it's such a good size! feels very practical without feeling like a tank on the road.
it's a real surprise how spacious it is inside. I really love that the 2nd row can slide back/forward depending on if you want legroom or room in the trunk/boot
Currently have the Hyundai Inster on for review. This tiny car might just be one of my favourite EVs ever, I've really fallen in love with it.
