JD Vance’s unwillingness to condemn the Nazi GOP groupchat provides the press corps yet another opportunity to probe his personal associations, and take note of how the whole administration exists to please them and make sadistic content go viral. www.offmessage.net/p/governing-...

NEW @motherjones.com: Nobody in that GOP group chat praising Hitler or making racist comments was a “kid,” as JD Vance claimed today

I tracked down their ages. (Weirdly, it seems nobody else did.)

Eight of the 11 in the group chat range from 24 to 35. Ages of others are unclear.

But… no “kids”!
No one in the GOP Hitler chat was a "kid"
We checked. Sorry, JD Vance.

All the more striking because Vance just turned 41 himself

President Trump on Wednesday signed a memorandum expanding his administration’s authority to repurpose unspent federal funds to pay members of the military during the government shutdown, escalating his challenge to the authority of Congress on spending matters.
Trump Signs Memo Expanding His Authority to Spend Federal Money
The president gave Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wide authority to repurpose funds to pay members of the military without approval from Congress, which has the sole constitutional authority to decide federal spending.

Historic: important in history

Spent my first three-ish years as US DOJ attorney going after the mountain of harm created by this guy & I am sad to report that he is making sense.

Kavanaugh stops are a destructive expansion of the discretion already afforded to police & are an affront to the 4th amendment & due process rights.

for @slate.com I wrote about Joe Arpaio's view on the SCOTUS shadow docket decision in Noem v. Vasquez Perdomo, the case in which Kavanaugh said it was okay to racially profile people.

I wrote about the Arpaio litigation in my essay on Vasquez-Perdomo, and how Kavanaugh's concurrence ignored that case's history. Glad to see @jesspish.bsky.social, an expert on local sheriffs, picking up that thread, too. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

The thing is that the modern GOP (not to mention its basement-confined moron stepchild, the Mises Caucus libertarian “party”) is accurately depicted by this language and a critical mass of the party is absolutely fine with it.

It’s incredible that the VT State Senator wrapped up in this hasn’t resigned yet — every major GOP leader in the state has called for his resignation. Fixing democracy requires restoring shame to public life. And accountability. Lots of accountability. vtdigger.org/2025/10/14/v...
