a year ago this week i was applying for an apartment in portland, packing my shit in san jose, and traveling to boston and columbus to see/meet so many pirate friends. this year will not be nearly as eventful, but that's okay.

i let the recycling pile up for ~months~ because taking one box down to the garage to dump it in the bin is too much work so why not wait until i have TWO boxes and a couple random bags i used to deal with the overflow so it'd be at least two trips up and back??? anyway. handled.

because going outside was one of the few things we *could* do, we went on fairly regular walks. there was one loop trail that had signs put up indicating it was one-way only we'd go and over the early spring we got to watch the wildflowers emerge over a month or so.

Pros: the red curry (top left, in the tureen) and shiao mai (top right) turned out great
Con: I fucked up the rice (no rice cooker here and apparently I can only make it on the stovetop in just-me quantities)

Food prep today: made a pumpkin pie and sweet potato & mushroom shiao mai filling, cooked tofu to add to curry and rice for fried rice, and opened up a pineapple for the fried rice. Still to do: actually assemble the shiao mai. Everything tomorrow will be simpler
