Visited Wistman's Wood today & was excited to find 4 new fenced exclosures have just been installed, protecting naturally regenerating saplings from grazing

Great work by Duchy of Cornwall + their tenant farmer + Natural England to help restore this temperate rainforest

Mwinzi, Natibu, Toto, and Korbessa arrived as fragile newborns. Today, they explore the Tsavo bush together, test their Keepers' patience, and grow stronger by the week. Gift an adoption this holiday – your recipient follows their journey from the very beginning.

Radio engineer, amateur astronomer, and Chicagoan Grote Reber was born #OTD in 1911.

After reading about Karl Jansky’s accidental discovery of galactic radio emissions, he built a 9m radio telescope *in his back yard* and carried out the first radio survey of the sky. 🧪 ⚛️ 🔭 📡

The corruption is absolutely staggering. One big money donor after another receiving direct benefits in return. Trump didn’t drain any swamps, he created a giant sewer to roll around in daily. Great reporting. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Meeting s friend over from Australia later today - first met them via Twitter. Social media can be awful, and does a lot of harm in the world (it would, without doubt, be a better place without X) but some wonderful things have resulted from it for me. That includes knowing some of you. Thank you.

Yes, we should worry about deforestation. But the problem is: many people don’t know that one industry is - by far - the single largest driver of deforestation and rainforest destruction worldwide: animal agriculture.

If you really care about rainforests, it’s time to ditch meat and dairy.

PPE Medpro has been liquidated but because it has only £0.6m only £0.6m of the £148m debt will be repaid.

A Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA), placed against Michelle Mone and Doug Barrowman (worth £500m+) would allow all the money to be recovered.

Why hasn't it happened?

Just five months ago, Reform UK ran for election, pledging to 'lower council tax' and 'say no' to increases. In power, Reform UK has implemented a 4.99% council tax increase for the 2025-2026 financial year, the maximum allowed.

According to this paper, AI currently produces greenhouse gas emissions of at least those of New Zealand, and perhaps more than double that amount - and AI is just in it's infancy😱

I hope you humans think all those slop images & email summaries are worth it. #climate

I could just about cope with stupid; we've survived plenty of stupid regimes in the past. It's the combination of crass stupidity with determined intentional malevolence that is so frightening and bloody depressing.

Maybe I should share success stories on social media, but honestly:

I'm dissatisfied with my generation, to be overly polite. I see oil/gas heated unrenovated buildings, the latest fossil vehicles speeding to drop off kids at school, new fossil dream buildings, a flood of plastic, masses of meat.

💜 Did you know sea otters are considered a keystone species? By preying on sea urchins, they help protect kelp forests - some of the most productive ecosystems on Earth. Restoring sea otters to Oregon means restoring balance.

Lucrative appointments for failed ministers.

They aren't hired for technical know-how but to exploit political links acquired with public money. What is the return to taxpayers for that investment?

Remember former PM Cameron lobbying for Greensill.
