The hardest thing for a lot of political people to internalize is that most voters are barely politicized and do not understand what they are voting for in any coherent way.
That gives campaigns and movements tons of flexibility but they are in constant trench warfare with their opposition.

According to this analysis not even one-third of Republicans are fully onboard with Trump's most blatant attacks on our Republic (ignoring the courts, the desire for a third term, the unconstitutional capture of the budget). We overestimate the strength and cohesiveness of MAGA at our peril.
