I created an island off the coast of Mass. called Caleb's Woe for my novel SECRETS AND LIES. Neighbors are suspects in a questionable death. You don't know who to trust. I based some of them on my neighbors - people I like. They love being killed off or tortured in my stories.

The easiest way to relate to our neighbors is through our cats. Everyone LOVES our new kitten! He meows at them from the living room window. We take our 5 year old cat outdoors in his yurt on the front lawn spring and summer. Everyone comes over to chat. Pets bring people together.
