It’s easy to imagine agents of state violence — like ICE — as uniquely evil.

But history shows, under the right conditions, most humans are capable of horrors.

It’s only in confronting that reality that we can begin to inoculate ourselves against it.

Canadians horrified by what ICE is doing should realize the RCMP uses the same tactics domestically against Indigenous people and yet barely anyone speaks up.

Journalists have been arrested just for trying to cover it
Carol Linnitt, co-founder and editor-in-chief, provides an update on The Narwhal’s court case against the RCMP. Amber Bracken finished cross-examination late Jan. 28. It took more than 12 hours.

Visible mending is silly because I could for sure fix this hole right now and no one would know it even existed... Or I could wait til it's out of control and do something cool with the repair 😌😂

Given everything happening right now, I updated this article with options for weather apps, web forms, and translation services — along with some tweaks to existing categories.

I hope it helps your transition off US tech!
Silicon Valley’s alliance with Donald Trump was a mask off moment and showed the world we can’t depend on US tech companies.

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!
Getting off US tech: a guide
I’m in the process of dropping US tech services. Here’s how I did it, and options you should consider.

Additionally, it seems that the $200 million for the Plan to End Chronic Homelessness (PECH) is over 6 years. Shantz only compared that investment to one year of police spending. www.cambridgetoday.ca/local-news/p...

34 was the year my hands finally started saying they're tired. Need to figure out how to care for them better. For now, mending by machine instead of just a needle and thread. Picking a strategy that's a little easier on the hands 👐🏻

I love buying stuff from Bandcamp and supporting the artists. There a great Bandcamp app so you can listen to your library, check out stuff you haven’t bought yet, make playlists, download stuff for when you’re offline. It’s great! Fuck Spotify.
Drop Spotify and set aside the subscription money for a little mp3 budget. I did it over a year ago and I appreciate music more.

Bandcamp is a great way to support artists and also a great way to discover them! You get free listens on songs before they ask you to pay

I am always so disappointed to click on a blog post and then there are no pictures, when it's very clearly a visual thing I am looking for. Endless examples, but currently searching for symmetrical knitting increases and decreases and why don't you have pictures of what they look like on your blog??

Around three years ago I reached out in the #WatReg Birds FB Group asking if anyone wanted to start a queer birding club. The response was great and now we have an awesome, thriving #queer #birding community in KW. Biweekly trips with no less than a dozen attendees. Community carpool. Great vibes.

I was going to do something basic to fix a hole near the knee on a jersey fabric pant, but now it’s going to look much better and last longer with her help. This is far more helpful than the 1h I spent on YT looking for a fix :)
