It's ZZT's 35th birthday,

I got back into making games in it recently as a hobby (bottom right game is mine!) -- but, it's what got me into coding.

ZZT, tools like Scratch, Minecraft mods even, all fill a place in my heart, for giving people, esp kids, a chance to tell stories with code.

Making shitty games at 13 in ZZT on a hand-me-down 486 on summer break was foundational for me! Link's Adventure (alongside @kohler.bsky.social's Yoshi fan games) got me into ZZT and ZZT made game making accessible and free in the same way punk rock's DIY ethos made songwriting accessible!
