Note that what the border patrol agents are doing in our cities is not necessarily illegal. I've been warning folks since 2013 that these agents have jurisdiction within 100 miles of the US border to stop and search people without cause. But since it was about weed busts, who cared? 👇🏻

It's pretty wild to think about how the world has more than enough wealth/money/resources to provide every human with a respectable standard of living but we've been brainwashed into thinking it's a natural consequence that most of it ends up in the bank accounts of a literal handful of people.

Oh, absolutely but we can’t force a company to operate in the state so it seems like we need a company committed to Oregon recreation and not just profit margin. That’s why I’m contemplating public ownership.

That’s what I thought. So what’s the solution? State owned resorts + insurance company?

We should be able to enjoy ourselves, be protected from resorts negligence *and* understand the user has to assume some risk.

It feels like extortion and users are the only one who get screwed either way.

I've been seeing a lot of discussion around liability waivers and how the insurance companies that underwrite Timberline, Meadows, etc. are pulling out and therefore the resorts are raising their fees.

Is there a reasonable policy fix or is this insurance companies playing mob boss?

As our economy shifts, the future must be one in which we are actually investing in the human to human jobs that can't be replaced.

We need to grow the ecosystem of therapists, nurses, homecare workers, child care providers, etc. and the only way to do that is to pay them what they are worth.
