Reminds me of the 2008 TVA Coal Ash Spill incident at the Kingston Fossil Plant. The contractor doing cleanup at assured workers that the sludge was “safe enough to eat daily.” Of course, it wasn’t, and many of the cleanup workers ended up with health problems tennesseelookout.com/2022/05/18/6...

#Futurama Season 2 episode 4 is a class in how to write a Christmas (or Xmas) story. You can subvert every important element, up to and including Santa Claus and the holiday's name, while still telling a heartfelt story about characters who genuinely love each other (Fry and Leela in this case). 1/

Dec 18 #BatMas: Jamaican fruit bat (Artibeus jamaicensis) 🦇🌎🧪

Living up to its name, this species feeds on fruits - like mangoes and avocadoes, but mainly figs (making up to 78% of their diet). When eating, they fly to new locations, sometimes carrying up to 50g of fruit!

Let me clue you in about Trump: he's always going to keep doing things intended to annoy people. That's his thing. But we can choose which of those things we get most annoyed at. And right now, I think the war he's starting with Venezuela is more annoying than whatever he did with plaques.

Some old hippie Caught another hippie Tripping on acid

I was shocked when I learned during my education degree that this was not the most inappropriate way to teach trig.
Okay, this is definitely offensive, but this paragraph made me laugh out loud

While Amazon is investing billions of dollars to expand AI, independent bookstores are hosting community events, personally recommending books to readers, and providing a space that is safe and welcoming during a time when we need them most.

Never underestimate the power of a local bookstore.

A #Gaston movie would be really dumb and #Disney is showing its stupidity by considering it. “What if Gaston was the hero?” is how I think they’ll spin it but that isn’t a question that would hold any interest whatsoever for multiple reasons. 1/

No he has several but he rotates. Sometimes it’s Haitians. Sometimes it’s Somalis. The one thing all his scapegoats all have in common is that he likely thinks they’re too small of groups to fight back effectively. But he’ll still lose anyway.

We have so much we could fight for.
Clean water.
Clean air.
Shelter.
Food.
Health.
Civil liberties.
The list goes on.
I don’t have the answers.
But I know I don’t want to build a movement around quid pro quos and I told you sos.

Yet, the people who caused that "time of danger" are long gone. We are still here.

We will keep lighting up Hanukkah.

With our hearts and minds going out to the families of those killed, and are with the injured -

We are taught, light from within darkness shines brightest 💔💞

We will worry of anything and everything out of the ordinary. This Hanukkah will be different.

Yet, I also know that we will not give up on shining the light of Chanukah. Already over 1500 years ago there are discussions on how to light Chanukah candles "in times of danger."

Brutally targeted, murdered and injured just for being openly Jewish, and openly celebrating our beautiful holiday.

I know that over the next 8 days, all of us who plan to attend public Chanukah celebrations, as we should be able to do in safety and security, will be worried.
