What a loss - but his work lives forever
Heartbroken that, per his social media accounts, Drew Struzan has left us. His poster and album art was quite simply shorthand for imagination for countless young people.
E.T. Adventure poster, 1990. I still have one of these hanging in my childhood bedroom. Star Wars Special edition triptych, 1997. I remember seeing all of these in the paper as each film was re-released and just felt a burst of energy those mornings. Hook poster, 1991 Back to the Future poster, 1985

So that's it for MTV in this country then. If I'm honest, I thought it'd all gone a long time ago. Late 80s, a workmate used to tape random hours of it for me and it all seemed impossibly exotic and exciting. I lost touch years ago but for those days... thank you MTV. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Thanks for your patience and tolerance in the run-up to this.

I will be on BBC Radio Sheffield at 10.10 and BBC Radio Northampton at 11.40 this morning. BBC Sounds will have them up later.

And here’s me signing copies in Cover to Cover, Mumbles.

Happy birthday to the new BBC radio networks, launched today in 1967. Part-time station BBC Radio 1 does pop; 2 takes on the Light Programme, the Third Programme, Network Three and the Third Network become Radio 3, and the Home Service becomes 4.

Needless to say, Radio 1 gets all the publicity.

I honestly think closing all the news channels would do the country a favour. We don’t need that much news. There’s not enough happening. So many correspondents are paid to basically speculate and gossip to fill time. Take the news channel money and give it to Light Entertainment.
It is possible to cherish the BBC as an institution while also saying that BBC News is failing very badly, day after day, in its duty to inform and that it always fails in a right-wing direction. It desperately needs to recover its integrity
