Most people in Britain are positive about universities (63%). Just 6% think they have a negative impact. A third of people are neutral. Universities may be struggling more with political elites than with general public, but could broaden their public reach too

Yes, true, but you've bought your ticket, these are the young lads (mostly), confidence is almost at an all-time low, you can make a difference to them tonight, but nah, can't be bothered.

Should have stayed at home.
They really are this ignorant.
lol no they absolutely will not, for so many reasons

I'd bet everything I own that in 20 years there will never be more than 1000 people in space at any one time. (It'll probably be well under 100.) Nobody will be living there with their kids.

Tech billionaires don't know a damn thing about tech.

Anfield was very poor. Those young lads needed support. There was absolutely none. They're not at fault for the current malaise. Plus, I thought that they did alright in the circumstances.

After years of research, scientist Leonid Pshenichnov concluded Russia + China cannot continue fishing krill, the main food source of many marine creatures, at current rates without risking breakdown of entire ocean ecosystems. Russia had him arrested:

Locals have been threatened. Fumes breathed in during a fire at the dump left some in hospital. An illegal dump like this won't be lined, there'll be no restrictions on chemicals at the site + no measures to protect people's health, rivers or groundwater.

it'll be interesting now to see whether the dip buyers emerge or whether gold is a big yellow canary in the 'meme assets' (?)

Seriously? @itvnews.bsky.social is “both siding” racism?
Is the Reform MP who says she’s driven mad by TV adverts full of Black & Asian people a racist or realist? How many migrants would the Tories expel? & should the UK be selling fighter jets to Türkiye?

If your business couldn't stay afloat if you had to clean up after yourself enough so you don't poison people's air + groundwater - then it's just possible you do not have a viable business model
I've written about oil industry cleanup liabilities. Look at their argument.

"We would not be able to take on certain wells that are in packages and would be less likely to take risks buying packages..."

Admitting if they have to pay for cleanup, they wouldn't be in this business.

The state could be on the hook for hundreds of millions of dollars — and up to $1.6 billion — for plugging and remediating orphan wells.
