I want to create an incubator that funds atproto/bluesky experimental projects to the tune of $5k-$10k dev grants.

I am sorely tempted to call it “Chemtrails”, because it seeds the ATmosphere

Hit me with your best ideas!
So, I’m building this thing to reinvent and reconceptualize what “science education” means….
The Austin STEM Center exists to be the place for kids who learn by doing, who think differently, and who just need someone to say “yeah, let’s build that.”

On a brighter note, @blaine.bsky.social will be presenting at the online @getdweb.net event today, and you should attend if you have time.

Here's his presentation from last year's #AtmosphereConf, where he kicked off the conference with an incredibly inspiring talk:

I’ll be in Brussels next week to represent both @eurosky.social and @flashes.blue at the EU Tech Stars Summit in the EU parliament @europarl.europa.eu.
Super proud I’m given the chance to tell decision makers about the alternatives that are already out there - time is ripe for change.

I’ve never heard of a “law enforcement” agency putting an officer who just killed someone back on the street under 24 hours. And that’s because all shootings are treated as homicides pending investigation. This is as clear a sign as you’ll get that DHS personnel enjoy practical immunity from murder.
CBP chief Bovino has confirmed that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have all been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are all on the street today.

This is totally unheard of for any officer-involved shooting

They took a holstered gun out of a mans holster. Shot him 10 times and killed him. Then posted on social media that he was looking to inflict maximum damage. With a holstered pistol.

Tim Walz: "What side do you want to be on? The side of an all-powerful federal government that can kill, injure, menace, and kidnap its citizens off the streets, or the side of a nurse at the VA hospital who died bearing witness - the side of a mother whose last words were 'I'm not mad at you.'"

I was one of Alex's nursing faculty at MCTC. This is simply devastating. He was a good student and I knew he'd be a good nurse. Im so sorry for you and his VA family. May his memory be a blessing and an example of what a nurse is.

Only if you maintain it!

Otherwise, it’s just a data transform.

Data, of course, is the real liability.
Code is liability. AI allows us to create tremendous amounts of liability very quickly

Yesterday, I drove refugees that had been shipped off to Texas all the way back home to St. Paul

Seeing them reunite with their families reminded me this is their home.

So keep sending them to Texas. I’ll keep driving ‘em back and introducing them to Bucc-ee’s and KC barbecue along the way.

Amazing! Back in October, I vibe coded myself this exact thing, and I'd been getting ready to write something about it, but here comes Tim who went and built a real version of it, rather than a plaything like the one I made for myself.

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.
