Used to have a blog, wrote a couple apps. Mostly posting about politics, movies, and technology.

Do you miss the bespoke era of the internet when apps could just be singular and idiosyncratic? Well here’s a little app I made for Apple TV called Television Wasteland. Nearly 50 channels (and growing) of public domain weirdness. All for free. I hope you enjoy it. Or don’t. It’s not for everybody.

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

With this vote, Congress makes ICE the highest-funded federal law enforcement agency in history, with more money per year at its disposal over the next four years than the budgets of the FBI, DEA, ATF, US Marshals, and Bureau of Prisons combined.

Just to state the stupidly obvious: This is treatment the United States has subjected HUNDREDS of men to without trial or process, the vast majority of whom have no criminal record of any kind. (Not, of course, that it would be acceptable if they did.)
Here’s Abrego Garcia’s amended complaint.

It alleges that Abrego Garcia “was subjected to severe mistreatment upon arrival at CECOT, including but not limited to severe beatings, severe sleep deprivation,
inadequate nutrition, and psychological torture..”

I’m sorry, but every time a Republican utters the word “communist” they sound like a fucking moron. Those dumb motherfuckers have NO IDEA what they’re talking about. At all. They’re just dipshit cultists repeating stuff they heard on TV or podcasts ad infinitum.

Fucking boot-lickers think writing a $16 million check to a dictator leaves them with some dignity intact. 60 Minutes, CBS and Paramount committed reputational suicide. Their brand is dead. You can never trust media that kisses the ring of fascists. Anyone with integrity will quit.
More: As part of the settlement, Paramount will not issue a statement of apology or regret, but the company has agreed that in the future, "60 Minutes" will release transcripts of interviews with presidential candidates.

Again! No one highlights the ICE money. If you are posting like this, you're pitching to the white Americans you hope don't care about brown people getting kidnapped, and not to "the groups" that GET YOU ELECTED.
Senate Republicans just passed the Big Ugly Bill, which contains

- Massive tax cuts for billionaires
- Tax hikes for working Americans
- 17 million lose health care
- The biggest cuts to Medicaid and SNAP ever
- Higher energy costs
- Trillions in debt

It comes to the House now. We will fight this.

It’s probably easy to quickly spin up a concentration camp when you don’t give a shit about the conditions of the people being put into it.
Whoa! Alligator Alcatraz is going to be complete by Tuesday and open for operation on Wednesday.

Am I the only one wondering how Ron DeSantis got this together so fast?

Floridians, make sure you remember this the next time a hurricane hits and you can’t get disaster relief in your state.

Beyond the politics of it, dismantling USAID was a fucking crime that will kill millions of people. Musk and Trump and everyone else responsible should be indicted for this.
You hear this a lot on the left but it isn't true. USAID did not "fail to tell its story to Americans," the right targeted the agency with lies and misinformation.

Ultimately this narrative turns conservative attacks into even more calls for the left to reform.

The fucking gall of REPUBLICANS to question anyone's faith. If Christianity is true, then they're all going to Hell for supporting Trump. Killing USAID and supporting ICE raids are moral atrocities for which they'll never repent.
Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner says she "100%" questions the faith of Jewish politicians who endorse Zohran Mamdani.

"The same way I would question Chuck Schumer, who works against the interests of his own people at times for the politics."

Emily Compagno then accuses Mamdani of Holocaust denial!

I hate it when trying to stop Republicans from turning America into a fascist police state interferes with my beach trip
The Fetterman "oh my god, I just want to go home, I already missed our trip to the beach" comment is real, and there's video, again credited to Alan He of CBS News.

"Big Ugly Bill" is the kind of dumb counter-phrasing that Democratic consultants think works. It's Clinton saying "America is Already Great" or McCain saying "That's NOT Change We Can Believe In". Don't be cute about a blank check for Republicans to build concentration camps and terrorize people.
I just left the Senate floor after speaking out against the Big Ugly Bill.

It breaks my heart that this is what we’ve come to as a Senate — and as a country.

We are dismantling American higher education & scientific research & health care & all the other things to fund concentration camps
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

One of the biggest reasons Democrats are in a crisis is that their members will say Trump is violating the Constitution, but will refuse to actually enforce it for political reasons. If Trump is so bad, why did you vote against impeaching him? It makes the entire party look weak and insincere.
