it would be impossible to watch some of the films for #AHWatching if it wasn’t for hitting the high seas. try finding in-print copies of old-ass pink films for instance. some of them don’t even have official releases!
I am in this picture, and I approve 100%. piracy is part of a healthy visual media ecosystem, it just shouldn't be the main/only thing. I got tons of ISOs and rips of various old shit, just _even more_ DVD/BD.

there's definitely some truth here, but from my perspective as someone who was active on both sites, 4chan specifically started because the dorks in ADTRW (the SA anime forum; guess what it stands for!) became enamored with 2chan and some of em decided to start an English-language version.
4chan only exists because people wouldn't stop talking about Azumanga Daioh on something awful to the point they had to start a new site. It's also where the term "waifu" comes from. Azumanga's importance is slept on.
