Fun with following authors: is this a book being written or a book being read… Who can say?
I'm on the last two scenes of this book, and for reasons I simply cannot explain, I both badly want to finish this today but also I *really* don't want to sit down and write.

I am really disappointed I couldn't make it to see his talk, but I love this video about my city from @nerd4cities.bsky.social

It amazes me how many people talk about Edmonton like we have no urban amenities when we consistently perform above much larger cities.

One of the most frustrating parts of buying vinyl records is not (always) getting a download code… and a turntable from the 80s so I can't exactly rip it without a lot of adapters

I consider it a massive failure of the algorithm that nothing alerted my trans indie/alt/folk self to #rainbowkittensurprise. For shame! Zuck clocked me almost a year before I did, but Spotify (since cancelled) couldn't connect me with a band that hits like everything about me?

More and more I think how we balance and allocate the power of elected officials does not reflect the public's assumptions. That can be good and bad, but it is definitely something to remember when talking about—and critiquing—public leaders.

Explainer: What's a weak mayor — and why could it matter for the 2025 election?
Few Albertans will approach the ballot box this October intending to elect a weak mayor, but that's exactly what they will get.

I wish journalists would stop framing political news as wins or losses for politicians or political parties. It’s an abrogation of our mission. Why do we keep doing this? Is the spending bill a win or loss for the American people? Who does it help? Who does it hurt? Is it sound policy? Fiscally?

It's never about the science. It's always about having a legal basis for your fear and hatred of other people.
My husband has taught human reproduction and development to the Cambridge medics for over three decades. When people start banging on about "only two biological sexes" he starts with "which sex: genetic, hormonal, or gonadal"?

While I’m happy the CPC is down in the polls, I’m even more happy that my riding is still an NDP/CPC battle.

I may not be thrilled with leadership at the moment, but I would still rather have an MP closer to my values.

1. The far right is falsely spreading that a new study shows that surgery "doubles depression" for transgender people.

This is an egregious misreading of the study, which does not look at transgender people before and after surgery.

Debunked: No, New Study Does Not Show Transgender Surgeries Double Depression
The study, which has been paraded around right-wing media sources, does not evaluate the impact of surgery on transgender depression rates.

This is a big step in the wrong direction.
There isn't much that the municipalities could do without provincial support, so I do understand the decision. But provincial funding should never have been pulled.
