I don't have any pasta-related #KidLitConfections to share (honestly... why don't I? I feel this is a situation that needsto be rectified ASAP), but here's the #KidLitChat inspired Popcorn Pie instead!

Hi #KidLitChat! My brain is in meltdown mode and I'm having all the sensory issues all at once, so I don't think I'll be able to contribute much intelligent thought to the chat (I keep re-reading the question and the only part that's registering in my brain tonight is "too much available pasta...")

“The librarians featured in this film are not symbols. They are real people who have endured harassment, retaliation, defamation, and loss for doing their jobs ethically.”
The Librarians airs on PBS Feb 9.

This film is personal. Many of the librarians featured are friends and mentors. Their stories show what censorship and defamation really look like in schools and communities.

Worth watching. Worth sharing.

I revise things SO MANY TIMES! I save each draft with a different file name, just in case I want to go back and salvage something from an earlier draft (it's happened maybe twice in the past decade or so). I save them Title1, Title1a... Title1m... [massive rewrite] Title 2, Title 2a... #KidLitChat
TOPIC: Yesterday was Groundhog Day in the US. Taking a cue from the movie, let's talk do-overs--aka REVISIONS. How many revisions do you typically go through on a story or art? And do you sometimes keep revising to avoid . . . finishing? (Extra points for honesty.) #kidlitchat

A good thread here from Shannon:
In October, I witnessed an ICE abduction of a woman in an airport. Afterward, I was not okay for days. I hesitate even saying that, because it's not about me and I don't want to divert attention from the actual victim. But I do want to be loud about this--these assaults are against all of us.

please remember that no matter how many “ICE is losing in MN” articles you read today, there is still a very real, urgent, ongoing crisis in Minnesota.

people need food and they need rent money. that has not changed.

Wow! I usually recognize a lot of the titles on the list of award winners (books I'd recently read), but I haven't read a single one of this year's titles! (I do see some fave KidLit creators listed.) I guess that means I have a lot of fantastic books to add to my TBR! #KidLitChat

I know people on Bsky know this but I hope it filters out: The feds are OCCUPYING the Twin Cities. This is a blockade, a siege. They are shutting down economic and civic activity. They are conducting "papers please" stops. They are criminalizing being a bystander/witness.

You could be next.

This is goofy. If someone holds up a phone close enough scan a damn QR code, ICE will break their arm and accuse them of assault.

No reform, no training, no half measures. Just send ICE the fuck home.

Ds should demand ICE OUT OF OUR CITIES immediately with ABOLISH ICE as the long term goal.
I am introducing the Quick Recognition (QR) Act, which requires ICE and CBP officers to wear uniforms featuring QR codes. When scanned, the code would generate a digital ID displaying the officer’s name, badge number, and law enforcement agency.

ICE should be unmasked both physically and digitally.
