But in a nutshell important milestones are: 1. Using multi-drive external bays 2. Using cheap SATA expanders 3. Using cheap SAS HBAs 4. Using Unraid 5. Using TruNAS 6. Just using OpenZFS on ubuntu server and learning way too much about hardware 7. Discovering procedures and validating you can restore from backup is important 8. Making my peace with the 'quirks' of ZFS 9. Realize I cannot offer advice without writing an entire essay. 10. Just telling people to make backups.

NYTRO3350 got the janky ass hit box
a graph displaying the 4k random write performance of various seagate NYTRO SAS-3 SSDs. The chart not only goes Asymptotic (as expected) but doubles back on itself causing the values between (approximately) 1.2m -> 1.4m IOPS to have 2 data points each.
