Funny about that! I love our birds 🥰
The aftermath of a stormy night and when I stepped outside bird song was all around. A currawong in the lillypilly and another on the wires. A raven flying over the roof. Rosellas chattering - mixed with the sound of a train coming through the valley into the station. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours
I love learning about Poland through your posts. It's not a country that has ever been on my radar in the past.
Couldn’t hear anything this morning due to the wind and rain but I did see a solitary cockatoo high above my garden, buffeted by the wind as it flew across the valley. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours

Dropping in on your parade - here’s one from last autumn in my garden - arrived overnight right in front of the kitchen window just where I usually see a bird or two in the bird bath.
Are you sure that’s real? I’m expecting pixies and gnomes to appear 😁 Seriously gorgeous.
A flurry of crimson rosellas and lorikeets whistling and trilling in the early hours of the morning. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours
To be fair though, the kids were pretty nonchalant about it all and were quite accepting of the old meaning of gay.
Yes... I think we preferred the 2nd verse - Kookaburra sits..... Eating all the gumnuts he can see. Stop kookaburra, stop kookaburra, leave some nuts for me 🤣 Not sure if that was better or worse!
The ol’ Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree…🎶 I know it well☺️
They had an answering chorus from across the road. It was quite something to listen to them all.
Much needed rain 🌧️ overnight and through the morning. As soon as it stopped the kookaburras started up, very loud and multiple choruses. I went outside to see how close they were. Five of them in the branches of the elm 🥰 #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours
A blustery morning and the currawongs were singing like crazy. I walked into the back garden looking for a first sighting and startled 2 juveniles hiding in the camellia. One flew out to the birdbath and looked at me with a ‘come on, fill it up’ look in its yellow eye. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours
I’d been wondering where you were and now seeing all the comments I’ve been thinking that first birders are probably more likely to notice the absence of regulars than maybe some of our neighbours and close friends - in spite of the time differences 😁 Glad all is well. Hard to keep up sometimes.
Wow! I've been listening to couple of boobook owls calling out to each other in my garden just now (11 pm). I can't see them but they're so close. Not the fbomd - I think it was ravens this morning, but it's been a busy day and I didn't write it down like I usually do. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours

Notice in village hall - happy weekend eve xx
I had a similar moment last week, home from a night out then noticed one of the bathroom blinds was down, not up where I left it! Did the ‘check every room’ thing. Poltergeist? 🥴
Nice choice of collective noun 😄
Woken up by a wattlebird pre-dawn but couldn’t see it in the dark so fbird was lady magpie in the garden almost hidden by the seaside daisies and the onion weed. I think she spotted me through the bathroom window before I saw her. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours
I’m not from US.
When phonics is used by teachers as part of a wholistic approach it is very valuable for the majority of children. I say this after 40 years in the classroom.
Learning to decode words through phonics is a tool to help children read. It is part of the process along with many other strategies and good teachers use all available methods - kids in class have variable needs. It’s never just 1 way to teach reading - unless it’s to make a headline.
