The first thing Yaxley-Lennon did on leaving court was to thank Elon Musk for funding his legal costs.

That's Elon Musk who has repeatedly called for civil war in the UK.

As of typing this - all of the major politicians and platforms maintain a presence on X and it is time for them all to leave.

A few stats:

in 2024 85% of seats were won on less than 50% of the vote, up from 35% in 2019.

Of the 19 seats won on less than 30% since 1945, ten of them were in 2024.

MRPs show there would be well over 100 seats won on less than 30% of the vote in an election today.
New post just out:

With five parties between 15%-26% of the vote our electoral system is going to produce increasingly mad results.

What would force a change?

If we did move to a new system what would it be?

How would it change politics?

That image and text carry a lot of emotional weight.

The flag means something different for everyone, but for so many, it represents both the sacrifice that shaped this country and the ongoing fight to protect the democracy those sacrifices were made for.👇

They are just completely incompetent.
Tax is for the little people not us.
Amazing story in The Times. Reform UK failed to pay VAT to HMRC on its sales (tickets, merchandise). About £400k in all.

Not tax avoidance. Not tax evasion. They just didn't realise when you sell stuff you have to charge VAT.

While the Queen was on the throne, it was a different matter.

With her passing it's time to ask - perfectly reasonably - who the institution of monarchy serves and whether this one family should rule over us all in perpetuity... with almost zero accountability

For much of the 1960s and 1970s, Prince Andrew was second in line to the throne and could - had tragedy struck - have become king three years ago.

Those who oppose a republic on the not entirely convincing grounds of "I don't want a President Farage/Blair etc" might do well to contemplate that one.

A peerage can only be removed by an act of parliament. The last time that happened was in 1917.

Our House of Lords is completely unfit for purpose, and the likes of "Lady Mone" can keep her position for life without consequences.
Covid-19 Bereaved Families on today’s ruling ordering PPE Medpro to repay £122m to Govt

“Nobody who had any part to play in the PPE scandal...should have any role in public life. Baroness Mone should have no role in making & passing the laws we all live under. Her title must be revoked immediately"

Douglas Barrowman and Michelle Mone's company, PPE Medpro, has just been ordered to refund the Government £122m from a PPE contract.

There are two very odd things about PPE Medpro that may affect the odds of the Government ever getting that £122m...

HMRC pays debt collectors hundred of pounds to chase people who owe as little as £89, losing hundreds of pounds on each case.

But it has let a £500,000,000 debt from Lord Bamford build up over more than 10 years.

HMRC isn't about collecting money.
