Studying viruses at Indiana University.
Enjoying non-science life as well.
Will try this at the conference I’m going to in January!
I think it's not too much to ask future science conference moderators (including poster sessions) to walk around in Batman costumes to 'encourage' good behavior and reduce the likelihood of senior scientists being jerks to students, who are much more intelligent and more polite than they are.
When pregnant woman boarded a subway car, 38% of the time someone offered her a seat. If someone dressed as Batman was also in the car it rose to 68%.

Eliminating interactions with the viral Fc receptor improves antibody-mediated protection against neonatal HSV infection in mice
HSV-specific antibodies demonstrate improved activity in vitro and in vivo when the IgG Fc domain is rendered insensitive to the viral Fc receptor.

We show that #sand_fly biting reprograms skin fibroblasts, making them more permissive to virus infection
=> #fibroblasts aren’t bystanders, they help define severity/clinical outcome to infection AND #vector biting is key

Last year it was discovered that a single bacterial NLR-like protein can recognize multiple, structurally unrelated phage proteins (Béchon et al, Kibby et al)

Now, a new study shows the same for a plant NLR. Another example how principles of immunity remain conserved from bacteria to eukaryotes

So we were told no money for incoming graduate student fellowships, no money for faculty hires, no money for cost of living raises, and no way is there money for back up power in one of our science buildings. But magically our football coach can get an 11 Mil annual salary for several years?
