This is Alex Ovechkin's 181st multi-goal game.

Only Wayne Gretzky had more with 189.

Brett Hull is third with 158.

No bad weather just bad clothing! A nice pair of rain pants, which doubles as snow pants in mild DC snow, were such a great investment. #BikeDC

DDOT continues to publish before/after analyses of safety projects. The numbers for the 9th street NW bike lanes suggest that we should be doing these projects everywhere we can. Crashes plummeted, pedestrian and bike traffic skyrocketed, and vehicle travel times dropped.

Happy to see JLG in the race, see who else joins and looking forward to the next chapter of DC.

Looking for resident and family forward, safe streets with strong focus on public transportation and micro-mobility (less cars), and housing that is family friendly!

Let me save you some money, McDuffie, no.
NEWS: Ward 4 Councilmember Janeese Lewis George is running for mayor, stepping into an open race in the wake of Mayor Muriel Bowser's decision not to seek a fourth term. At-Large Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie is also meeting with campaign consultants this week for his own run.

Snow is great because it is a natural force that cuts down on car use and people don’t actually get mad about it. Less cars means more people stay local, quieter streets and noticeably feels safer so people tend to naturally relax. Yea this is actually a post about how cars mostly suck.
A friendly reminder to locals for this afternoon/evening: walking through snow to a local bar or restaurant, when most else is quiet, is among life’s greatest pleasures.

Really can't overstate how problematic robotaxis become at scale:

"Urban traffic is constrained by the fact that getting around by car either requires (expensively) paying someone else to drive or (inconveniently) driving oneself. Without such constraints the result could be brutal gridlock."
Self-driving cars will transform urban economies
A robotaxi boom is coming. The impacts might be broader than you expect

What the ad does is remind servicemembers of their duty/loyalty to the Constitution, not to the person giving them orders. It is a subtle reorientation of their duty to higher principles. But for Trump and Hegseth, this is a problem 4/

It's important to understand what this ad does and why it is so threatening to the Trump admin. It gets to social identity theory, which posits that we have many identities, and the one which is salient in a given context will dictate how we think/behave in a particular situation. 1/
WATCH: After six Democratic lawmakers posted a video urging members of the military not to follow illegal orders, Trump erupted online, accusing them of “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!” Sen. Elissa Slotkin, one of the senators in that video, joins Chris Hayes to respond.

Cash bail is deeply inequitable and perpetuates entrenched poverty which then can lead to higher recidivism. #FreeDC #StatehoodNow

Federal Efforts to Reinstate Cash Bail in DC Disproportionately Harms Black Residents
Cash bail harms people with low incomes who are unable to pay for bail, and Black DC residents have lower incomes and higher poverty rates than other races due to historic and systemic racism.

This so much!

Parents (usually mothers) in car-centric areas are forced to chauffeur their kids around. It also means they emphasize predictable, scheduled activities (like sports leagues) that cost money.

Youth mobility gives kids freedom, saves money, and reduces the unpaid-labor burden on women
Just preaching my message of "wanting to do less more often" we all have our reasons.

Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".

But there is no "normal". Submission emboldens the tyrant. The threat grows.
