There was one near where I used to live that didn't require that, but only fed people on Wednesday evenings.

And the fact they even did that much means the govt is legally obligated to not provide food to shore up the other 20 meals/week, leaving it to charities...
I got into an argument once about that. He didn't see how forcing people to convert or join in a religious ceremony was in any way wrong.

And that's when they don't just turn you away for being LGBTQ+

When the trans community said that they were being used as a proxy to attack everyones rights, y'all should have listened.
1993: Stephen Lawrence is murdered by racists.
1999: The MacPherson Inquiry recommends recording of non-crime hate incidents.
2005: After the Discrimination Law Review, non-crime hate incidents begin being recorded by UK police.
2025: Mainstream transphobia ends a harm reduction policy that worked.
Met Police says it will no longer investigate non-crime hate incidents
The move comes as an investigation into Father Ted creator Graham Linehan is dropped, after his arrest over a post on X.

Love how I can go more places topless in Germany than a male Senate Democratic candidate who has had 15 years to correct that problem

Definitely not me, and I definitely won't turn into a blushy mess if a lesbian were to call me it
Cishet white dems will lecture trans women about the Holocaust, treating us as if we weren't explicitly burned in the furnaces and erased from history by the allied governments, and then turn around and do this and expect to not be clowned on
Tran identity is a luxury belief. Nazi tattoos are part of a smol bean oopsiedoodle boys will be boys lads club youthful phase to grow out of and actually it's out of touch to imply men can go their whole lives without wanting to kill minorities
If youre a trans woman youre a bougeois decadent, if youre a cis former wehrmacht guy with a deaths head you are a necessary part of the coalition
Hey Dems, I've never even thought about getting a Nazi tattoo. Would you give me the benefit of the doubt and start treating me as a person? Or do I have to be a cishet white man with an at least questionable past for that treatment?
To my knowledge, he has STILL not gone for a cover up or removal of his tattoo. And that's pretty damning when saying someone regrets it. There's even an organization that will help people find services to remove/change them so he really just does not have an excuse FIFTEEN YEARS LATER.

do you have access to whiteness?

turn the gun on your fellow whites or give it to the people willing to liberate themselves from the oppressive settler nation
White people’s willingness to give other white people the benefit of the doubt despite any and all evidence that they shouldn’t will be the death of us all.

It's not a punishment. It's a recognition of reality. And I'm sure some of us will truly do the work and be worthy of it. But I think we should be very reluctant to make that assumption.

Growth is a process that never ends.

Escaping the right wing bubble isn't something you do for a reward.
This. People are acting like this is some kind of punishment to not be given massive amounts of power and y'all just look like Kavanaugh defenders when you do.

So maybe Platner really is a different person now. I hope he is. And I hope he proves me wrong about him.

BUT.

Power isn't a reward for becoming a better person. It's something that isn't owed to anyone. It should be given to people who are best able to exercise it.

There's a difference between giving people space to grow and improve and better themselves - which I fully endorse and support - and giving them *power*. Obviously representation isn't the be all, end all, but marginalized and racialized groups deserve better representation than that.

I know a lot of people with Platner are talking about the need to give grace to people coming out of right wing extremist environments. To an extent, I agree. I grew up in one, after all. My parents put me through conversion therapy. I didn't choose to have right wing racist bigots for parents.

This isn’t a focus in the Discourse because the loudest voices with the biggest platforms are people who have never worried about their next meal. I’ve needed SNAP; I’ve used SNAP; I’ve lost it when it mattered. This is going to be a wave of mass starvation beyond living memory in this country.
I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.
If you see Nazi symbolism that isn't on a gathering place for a specific group that was targeted by the Nazis and claim that it only hurts Jewish people, that's Holocaust revisionism and I really need you to fucking stop

Brianna died because two IRL classmates at her IRL school that she attended IRL decided, IRL, to murder her for fun. They lured her, IRL, to a park where they IRL stabbed her to death for the pleasure of seeing, in person, how she screamed. Her mother making it about phones and online is disgusting.
Meeting yesterday with Brianna Ghey's mother Esther - and pupils at Brianna's former school - was a powerful reminder of why controls on social media and smartphone use in schools is so important for children, teachers and parents. (1/2)
This is what happens when you decry violence for any reason, but allow kids to go "I'm not touching you~" without repercussions. They really think they're being clever here.
