I once watched one of my co-workers try welding with a split leather glove, rather than digging out the actual welding glove. Turns out not all gloves are equal (and hot slag in the palm leaves a hell of a burn).

Hell, in 2010, we even had to have one of our team members fill out a form for a couple who had died, because they were alive on Census Day, which means they had to be counted.
