A bunch of us field leads were coming from our final shifts and waiting to get in and I was like “No spoilers, please!” I didn’t want to hear it from some random person outside among a few, I wanted to hear it inside the victory party with everybody! Grateful I got to experience that.
Not only did NYC see the highest voter turnout in a mayoral election since 1969, but the race was called minutes after polls closed. And I did not feel like I was going to throw up once.

The early line was so long at the main Astoria election results watch / victory party, around the corner, that there was concern of it becoming electioneering at the poll site on the adjoining street, so us canvassers had to be welcoming to celebrants but also strict about still needing to canvass
