Funnily enough I remembered the other day of OFAH having a different theme in it's first series (compared to the familiar one used from the second series onwards) which sounds *very* out of place for the sitcom genre alone let alone the show

That show was also one of the... out of place choices made by the BBC to replace the 6pm slot held by The Simpsons for BBC Two back in June 2004 (which thankfully didn't last long)

Don't think I've seen a better obituary for Windows 10 during yesterday than this one...
A Metropol post revolving around support ending for Windows 10, commemorating the service for its odd quirks and hindrances

If anything, it's sadder how a whole generation of MTV viewers both here and globally now only recognise the brand as being the home of reality TV rather than music videos, which pretty much stopped being a priority for the UK version in favour of the former 20+ years ago

And their repeat run from the beginning starts on Wednesday this week... can't wait for the inevitable moment that eps begin airing at random/illogical times or when the repeat run stops altogether with little to no explanation as to why...

The news on That's TV repeating Grange Hill (knowing their scheduling it'll be random though) has reminded me of the 1990 theme which I (and others) are familiar with... which was dated by 2007 when it was canned as was "Chicken Man" when that was initially axed in 1990

A fascinating insight into the cataloguing and preservation of UK film collections, some of which are at very real risk of being lost forever without the hard work and dedication of people like Film Are Fabulous. Recommended listening.

Yeah videos of that quality were hen's teeth territory then, especially how YouTube's quality was still 360/480p when that channel started, at least until 720p was added in November 2008. Whereas now it's taken for granted

I can only imagine in recent years BBC One's breakdown from November 2020 was a major example of that, given it was one of the more longer times a major channel went off air over here during this decade (so far)

Worth noting that said edition of TOTP was guest hosted by Robbie Williams and Mark Owen from when the former was part of Take That the year before leaving (though Mark is still active in the pop group to this day)

Plus profiles of YouTube accounts archived on Wayback Machine pre 2008 are uncommon save for a few instances. If I remember correctly, the only way to upload videos longer than 10 mins at that point was if you had the "Director" tag on your profile, but they were removed by around 2009-10 or so

2 of mine's would be CentralSouth from his 3rd account onwards for general TV and MrTVboy2009, who used to put up various kids programming and continuity from the 90s/00s (some of which were saved and reuploaded but not all)

Here's one... as YouTube is now 2 decades old (and 2026 is 20 years since the TV pres community first emerged on it), what was some of the first YouTube channels of the kind you came across back then?

And here's the second of the many ad breaks during the show, including a lengthy one for Lloyds Bank, a promo for Emmerdale at the end and another ad for Safeway showcasing cans of soup/broth costing 19p (imagine that in today's economy...)

Always easy to forget that Discovery Kids UK also repeated Wolves, Witches and Giants around the early to mid 00s on their cartoon strand, which would've been before CITV repeated it again from 2007. The former was my first exposure to the show too

Looking back though, the third level was tedious to complete given the increase in obstacles you had to avoid (as you can see by the end of the video above). Adds to the charm of the game in a way though

Arnold
Lombard Direct
1996-2016

Lombard Direct burned their name and phone number into Britons' nostalgia with their Enn Reitel-voiced cartoon telephone, Arnold, and his regularly rerun adverts. In 2006, he was given an arguably less spirited CGI makeover, a new voice and the nickname 'Lombard'.
Arnold, a blue rotary telephone with eyes, brows, a dial for a nose, a large smile and an orange wire he uses as his hands. Arnold as seen in his first appearance on TV A live-action woman using a large phone book and Arnold's handset to call Lombard Direct Arnold in 2006, now a CG push button telephone with floating hands and larger, further apart eyes

Going to think of this when going past a Land Rover car for the next week, so thank you for that :/

Lest we forget that said theme was reused in 2008 for the show's final series which surely must've been more dated to its target audience at that point
