H. C. Dodge's "Future 'America'" from the NY World, April 1889. Millionaires, bribers, a criminal rogue raised on high.

My country, 'tis of thee.
Land of lost Liberty,
Of thee we sing.
Land which the millionaires,
Who govern our affairs,
Own for themselves and heirs—
Hall to thy king.

Air Force Number 2, I see occurred to others as well.

Wonder what foreign media is making of it.
Those local declarations were commonplace and yet so many seem to think their own is unique.

Thomas Paine, Common Sense (1776).
In America, the law is king.
Stealing old US bonds artwork because (1) god forbid they hire and pay somebody for their honest, original work and (2) there might not be enough artists with sharing their abhorrent politics anyway.
I wish The Shame of the Empire State (1913) and The Governor's Boss (1915) starring ex-NYS Governor Sulzer survived.
Air accordion prize, sure, but only because nobody's in competition - he's not actually any good at it, just does it a lot.
Are godawful MAGA artists like Jon McNaughton not upset about AI taking hagiographic opportunities away from them?
Larry Milne's 1984 Coronet novelization makes it a dream... but devotes parts of two pages to it. Richard Mueller's 1985 TOR novelization devotes less to it, but has Stantz deciding some ghosts are good and they won't try to imprison that one. The latter seems to follow original script.

I mean, if you can get commercial sponsorship with this...
Could name so many others...Deren's Meshes of the Afternoon, while not horror per se, is nonetheless so eerie it's stuck with me 30+ years since seeing in a college film class. Kuzui's Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Hadžihalilović's Evolution. Anything Hélène Cattet has co-directed, short or feature. &c!
DJT's tired schtick from that event too?
Oh, you're in for it with that one...
Made me curious when editors first started exposing Halloweeners to the public. Here's a pretty old one:

"So the three Hallowe'eners went on their way, hunting something else to do."
Davis, Helena. "The Twins' Hallowe'en." Duluth Herald. October 29, 1910: 20.
Antonia Bird's Ravenous (1999) is a personal favorite, the soundtrack CD a frequent listen too, and she was taken far too soon.
My hovercraft is full of them!
I recall liking all three of them!
Can't spell hope without hop, so Jiangshi may help!
You must not have had to pay import fees, I guess!
