And an “appropriations king” who directs his attention to unconstitutionally appropriating funds to raise an army is poised to become, simply, a “king” bsky.app/profile/samh...

This approach is spreading. Again, this is the most serious kind of spending clause encroachment I can imagine, since the framers expressly relied upon the fact that POTUS cannot sustain armed forces w/o Congress to prevent him from becoming king. (Federalist 69 below.) bsky.app/profile/task...
Secondly. The President is to be commander-in-chief of the army and navy
of the United States. *In this respect his authority would be nominally the same with that of the king of Great Britain, but in substance much inferior to it. It would
amount to nothing more than the supreme command and direction of the military and naval forces, as first General and admiral of the Confederacy; while that of the British king extends to the DECLARING of war and to the RAISING and REGULATING of fleets
and armies, all which, by the Constitution under consideration, would appertain to the legislature.* The governor of New York, on

"I have been reliably informed that the Wallet Inspector has almost completed his work and is prepared to announce his findings."
Rep Luna tweet:

My office just received word from the @RusEmbUSA
that the ambassador from Russia to the United States will be hand delivering the @GovernmentRF
’s findings on who assassinated JFK to my office.

This is a 350 page document.

We will be uploading these documents as soon as we receive them working with @jeffersonmorley
to ensure that the American people have direct access to them immediately.

It is important to note that Congress attempted to obtain these files in the 90’s and was denied. We have been given access to them now for the first time in history.

Scott Bessent going “erm ackshually Tariffs aren’t a tax, they’re just a compulsory contribution to state revenue, levied by the government on workers' income and business profits, or added to the cost of some goods, services, and transactions”

Watching people being brutalized by the state, secure in the knowledge that I'm safe because I don't do anything wrong. And the best part? The state can't suddenly and arbitrarily redefine what "wrong" means

Both sides of a conflict are calling each other evil and corrupt, rendering me, a humble journalist, helpless to discern the truth. Best I can do is let you know that both sides are in fact saying those things. Hope this helps

Trump and Bessent clarify that they will only help out Argentina as long as Milei is in power. Trump adds that the same thing goes with NYC, where the White House will hold up funds if Mamdani wins.

The gaslighting—from NC Republicans and many others—is really something else. They're just outright pretending that California launched this year's redistricting wars, even though it started with Texas. bergerpress.medium.com/general-asse...

the percentage of current U.S. gov policy that can be explained by the fact that trump has appointed a bunch of 12 year olds who are addicted to social media is frankly terrifying

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?
