Starting with a small amount of it to see how it looks. Given it's naturalised weed state, no doubt it'll end up being a much heavier application (especially on the as-yet-un-scenic-ed east end of town which directly adjoins crop fields)

Finally got around to trying out making some Patterson's Curse (Echium plantagineum) for the layout.

Baking paper sheet of home-made grass tufts turned into flowering plants. Low angle shot to get an idea of the scale-human perspective of the plants.

Materials used - Woodland Scenics dark green static grass, Ground-Up Scenery purple flowering foliage, Martin Wellberg Scenery eucalyptus leaves scatter

I've spent today updating the mechanism on my #3Dprinted windup rocket model. After testing it on my layout I found the gears were colliding with my points so I've resolved the issue. Other than that it runs great using a little windup motor, being about to traverse the entire layout. #modelrailway

there's an account that pops up in my model railroad feed that posts articles linked from a "Model Train Community" website appear to be entirely AI generated posts on model railroad subjects

it's so perplexing someone thought ANYONE would find material value or use in such a slop site

"Q&A" from a clearly AI generated article which contains no questions, it reads:

1. **Materials and Tools**: Use flexible track sections made of nickel-silver for durability and conductivity. Gather tools like a track cutter, pliers, and a soldering iron for precise assembly.

2. **Ballasting**: Apply a layer of fine ballast material, such as crushed granite or limestone, between and around the tracks. Secure it with a 50/50 mix of water and white glue, applied with a dropper to avoid disturbing the ballast.

3. **Weathering**: Use acrylic paints or weathering powders to add realistic rust and grime effects to the rails and ties. Lightly brush or airbrush these materials to achieve a natural, aged appearance.

Yeah, doesn't surprise me. I think the younger skewing of the model train side of the hobby predominantly congregates online for a variety of reasons, but I'd expect that to change over time

Major evolution in the GZDoom community tonight - the regular contributors finally had enough of the project lead, who had been very hard to work with for a long time. He dug in and told them "If you don't like it, go and make your own fork."

I love when layouts bother to do building interiors. Like obviously with larger scales it's more practical to do and beneficial for filling detail, but, none the less seeing fully decked out rooms and building layouts is [chef's kiss]
