These drugs are really expensive. Seems like we could just save everyone heartache and ban addictive junk food. Messing with our hormones doesn't seem like health to me.

Researchers found that while human fevers (40-42C) are effective against human-adapted flu viruses, the higher baseline body temperature of birds means that avian-adapted flu viruses aren’t really threatened.

More interestingly, it’s just a small handful of residues in the PB1 subunit that change.🧪
Avian-origin influenza A viruses tolerate elevated pyrexic temperatures in mammals
Host body temperature can define a virus’s replicative profile—influenza A viruses (IAVs) adapted to 40° to 42°C in birds are less temperature sensitive in vitro compared with human isolates adapted t...

Peonies are expensive, but they live for 60 years, so it's a really good investment.

Besides, the deer don't like them. Double win.

A rare bird—the red-cockaded woodpecker—that vanished in 1994 might soon return to Tennessee. Once widespread throughout the Southeast, the woodpecker disappeared amid multiple threats. In Tennessee, an ambitious plan was launched to reintroduce a bird last seen when Bill Clinton was president👇
Why a rare bird that vanished 30 years ago might soon return
More than three decades after that last known sighting of the red-cockaded woodpecker in the summer of 1994, state and federal officials have an ambitious plan to bring back the imperiled bird to the ...

Why high-altitudes harbor such a wealth of medicinal plants.

Because we humans also need antioxidants.

Also, yay! Source of where the term "secondary metabolites" comes from. A much often debated term. Albrecht Kossel (1891)

So maybe this "bad" weed isn't so bad after all.
Iris pseudacorus
In a recent greenhouse study, researchers showed that yellow flag iris plants, working in symbiosis with fungi on their roots, can take up and transform certain PFAS compounds from water. This plant–fungus partnership enhanced pollutant removal compared with plants alone.

Why herbalists should take plant biochemistry.
So they understand what natural product research is discovering. And, so they can tell the difference between the two disciplines.

I particularly love journal article summaries, of which this is absolutely helpful!
Matching gene expression to metabolite production in single plant cells

Integrated method reveals how genes drive metabolite production, uncovers cell types, & could speed up the development of plant-based medicines.

Suggest filling a pot with soil (pH 6-7) and sprinkling the Rhodiola seed (which is dust-sized) on top and then burying the pot in a garden and let nature do the rest. The plants are very small and take many months to get large enough to identify. Photos are 2-month old plants
