🌈COVER REVEAL🌈

From the acclaimed author of Chef's Kiss and A Gentleman's Gentleman comes a riotous Regency romp, featuring a charming and unforgettable genderfluid lead.

A LADY FOR ALL SEASONS is out March 10.

Preorder & full synopsis: tjalexander.com#books6
The cover for A Lady For All Seasons. A photograph of a redheaded woman in a blue dress is facing away from the viewer. The title and author name are illustrated as if on the front of a poetry chapbook.

"a sad, sad, sad Rumpelstiltskin-like husk of a man" has been stuck in my head all day. Maybe because it describes so many people.

remembering that booktuber who read van gogh's diaries and letters and hated it bc she expected inspirational quotes when in reality most of it is vincent writing about needing money

can you tell I don't know what is age appropriate for anyone.

Oh definitely--well, now I'm thinking, are middle school kids allowed to listen to cussing? There's cussing in Hamilton, I'm pretty sure. If so then Daveed Diggs's clipping is wildly good.

I dislike skipping over Halloween to the holiday season, truly, but next newsletter had to do it, scheduling-wise.

books should have an anti-acknowledgements section where the author talks shit about all the people who fucked them over while they were trying to write the thing. not bc I personally want to write one but bc I love gossip

Publishers should be invested in promoting the books they publish.

Oh I have no idea, I never read the books, but my memory of the book cover is they're not Edward's hands? So even if it is referencing something that happened in the book I think it was interpreted very weirdly

I was lost for most of this film but the apple thing.....

the apple thing is gonna keep me up at night.

You're a visual medium, but there are other parts of a book that can be adapted to visuals besides-- yanno what I am overthinking this probably

DIDN'T GET that it was supposed to be an homage of the book cover until a sort of slideshow during the credits

but that made it worse! Like, THAT'S how you wanted to pay homage to your source material? Invoking the cover art??? do you understand what makes books beloved? I don't think it's that

I watched the first Twilight movie for the first time last night and tho many parts were inscrutable to me, one scene stood out. The one where Bella is arranging fruit (??) in the school cafeteria, is startled by Edward, drops an apple only for him to catch it in a bizarre way

If you close up all your windows the radiators will STEAM YOU like a little LOBSTER not recommended unless we're in negative digits, the radiators are powerful, the radiators cannot be tamed, you must give yourself up to the lifegiving heat and weird banging noises if you value your SKIN
tjalexandernyc.bsky.social
If you're new to Radiator Day, please remember prewar radiators were designed to heat an apartment with the windows OPEN to promote AIRFLOW because of all the DISEASES. ✌️

Happy Radiator Day to all who celebrate. It's a hyper local NYC holiday to commemorate when your prewar building's radiators kick on for the cold season. Mine are SIZZLING.

Reminder this holiday season that donating to the SA sucks. Ignore the red buckets.

The Salvation Army really is the epitome of a certain kind of white conservatism

They prey on the most vulnerable. They happily leave the sort of people they don't like to die in the streets

But they smile a lot and don't cuss and say "Jesus", so they get to be respectable

Publishing is a broken system, and most individuals can't fix a whole-ass system, but a thread of ways you can support marginalized authors.
ingloriousgigi.bsky.social
You should be concerned about the rate of authors leaving publishing. Especially from marginalized communities. This year I have seen so many authors just pack it up and go. And it's only getting worse.

Today is National Coming Out Day!

It's also Freedom to Read Day, aka the last day of Banned Books Week.

This feels right — because the main reason they try to ban books is to keep people from dreaming they could ever come out.

Representation in books is important for self-affirmation and for learning about other people.

On this National Coming Out Day, I encourage you to explore the books of E. Lynn Harris.

And you can check out my books, too.

We both feature Black men in love! ✍🏾📚💕🌈 #NCOD #MMRomance #Romancelandia
