Game publisher run by game designer Steve Dee. Sydney, Australia. Social media is the problem but I need promotional streams to get games to people.

D&D was a random, poorly constructed miniatures game that lucked into a false promise of weird simulationism and then was misconstrued as a storytelling game and it isn't either of those things. The sooner we realise and move on and leave it behind, the better.

Once you realize the NYT is trying to help him you can’t stop seeing it
It was an unrealistic promise, not a lie!
The first step to defeating D&D is ignoring D&D. Just forget about it. It will always be shit.
Obligatory disclaimer:
I like games where you go in a scary hole to fight monsters and level up. I also like social games about PCs having emotions at each other. I even like games about queer topics.
My point is that this shit is dishonest marketing on hasbros part, because dnd is only the first.

Putting a beholder, The Most Racist Creature, in the background of a Pride art piece is a good bit
What does any of this shit have to do with D&D, which is a game about going somewhere dangerous (eg dungeons) to fight scary monsters (eg dragons)?
What relevance does all the twee art like this Hasbro keeps churning out have for a game that is fundamentally about peril, violence and adventure?

centrist: Where do we go from here? We have to find common ground. We can't just call the other group "Nazis." At the end of the day, we're all just rich white men with podcasts.

Powerful, grubby men using their connections to cover their abuse of a trafficked teenage girl.

After all the revelations, it's never "not" shocking.

billionaires should not be allowed to exist because the downside of "one of them loses their mind" is simply too dangerous for a functional society

also, having a billion dollars tends to make you lose your mind
The whole point of democracy is so one person's derangement does not become everybody's problem. It's social hygiene. The fact the richest men in the West are a mix of grotty twelve year olds and deranged apocalypse fanatics is a problem, and we should be honest about it.

The fact that they are not even able to sell a record and it’s taken from them by rich motherfuckers on streaming platforms who get paid royally by record labels,Ticketmaster, merch companies. They’re all fucking getting paid, except for the musician.”

The funniest thing about American liberalism is that only Americans talk about liberalism, while also living in a society so illiberal the rest of the world points and laughs.
I agree that bad games mess with people, but my games don't need you to be "into" the mechanics for them to work.
Now I've had people say that as you soon as you try to control behaviour, you've lost, but to that I say "piffle"
Spicy take: while I think it’s great to be up front in the rulebook about the goals of play I’m also always wary of ttrpgs that write on the character sheet things like “get into trouble” or “make dramatic choices” because if you’ve made the game properly, the mechanics should make you do that.
this book is PHENOMENAL and everyone should read it, even if you don't like (whatever you think you won't like)
Listen to me relentlessly bullying @eleanormorton.bsky.social in this month's episode of Eleanor & Alasdair Read That. We're doing Jill Murphy's The Worst Witch (1974). And we're not doing Harry Potter, the Keir Starmer of fantasy literature.

She replied to say thank you & she'd doodled witches, webs & bats on the envelope.

I knew Jill, she lived a few doors down from me back when I lived in Cornwall, I went to school with her son & I used to swim in her pool. We kept in touch; when I came out as trans, I emailed her to tell her my new name, she was excited for me and supported me. She was incredibly lovely. I miss her
Internet, you are drunk, and when you are drunk you forget that Willow is the best fantasy movie of all time.
If you're lucky, the staircase falls down eventually, and hopefully doesn't take the whole house with it, but it sure does a lot of damage as it falls.
And maybe the house ends up not talking to each other, or everyone packs into the broken staircase and pretends it works...sigh.
And they keep attracting people who don't mind climbing up the walls, which ends up making the subculture weird or cliquey because you have to nail your colours to a mast instead of just all mixing together, or people who think the whole house is falling down just don't come in at all.
You can't criticise the staircase being broken from the inside, because they like it that way. You can't criticise from the outside because the staircase has become a supporting wall of the whole subculture and you can't pull the whole house down.
