All I had to do today was upload three episodes of our new podcast and it has completely destroyed all my spoons and it's so fucking frustrating every damn time.

Well, I actually agree with this one. How the fuck do I know what my character does? I'm not them. I design games where I get to find out what they do, not decide.
Never declare what your character does - you play an experienced adventurer so your character knows way better than you, what they should do!
Just roll something, that's what stats are for.

Well, I actually agree with this one. How the fuck do I know what my character does? I'm not them. I design games where I get to find out what they do, not decide.
While I agree nerds do this, I also agree that slang is slang. Nobody is using the term as a joke, but as an easy way to say the hobby in fewer syllables.
Oh, also "titterpig" is a prime example of the way nerds take a joke that was only mildly funny in the first place and then kick any remaining humour out of it through overuse.

I broadly agree with this, but I don't think there's a good way to do this, especially since I don't think D&D is one.
We need an actual definition of RPG that includes some things and excludes others and "a RPG is anything that calls itself one" is a cowardly copout.

i think the larger issue here is titterpigs are - nearly universally - about punching things, and a Hobbesian nightmare world is where that works BEST.
And that's mostly fine, and is at least more honest than pretending we're telling stories of picaresque fantasy.

I don't think the average rolelayer could define immersion, let alone agree on this, but I also don't think there IS an average roleplayer, because the passtime is too many things and too many concepts.

I am available for hire as a freelance RPG PR person. I'll repeatedly tell people to fuck off for a small fee, then you get to claim that I'm a "freelancer who went rogue" absolving you of all responsibility.
Same with RPGs. We should normalise responding to "$20 dollars for a PDF!!!" comments on Drivethru RPG with "fuck off".
Gamers have such incredibly unreasonable demands of indies it's sort of a wonder anything gets made at all.
I could never fault an indie dev for just wanting to withdraw entirely from public from what are deeply wild, unfair or aggressive demands on their passion projects from 'gamers'.
