Playing Earthbound for the first time ever in 2025 is fascinating, actually. You're just a kid and the world's gone mad. All the adults are useless at best or trying to kill you at worst. Everyone talks like a crazy person. Everything's too expensive. Your next door neighbor wants to be a dictator.
Put a smartphone in his hand and it’s all of us

Remember folks. The original bluesky ethos by us bluesky elders (apparently I count?) is block and move on.

Don't quote dunk, don't pick fights.
Block, and move on.

This is what made this site unpalatable to the right early on, and we can continue to make it unpalatable to them.
"This isn't food. It's cartoonist fuel."
😂
This one is pure pain. Well done!

The end of a held ethical code among all technologists, as light weight and infrequently applied as it was, marks the end of a web where sites can trust in a basic ground level of cooperation. The result is a web increasingly militarized against itself. Everyone must now close up and arm up.
"The protocol taught us that technology can be based on human values like ethics and morality. It showed that voluntary compliance works when all parties benefit."

Obituary: Farewell to robots.txt (1994-2025)
The voluntary compliance protocol that civilized the internet has departed, bids Henning Fries farewell.

Also: It only seems like it's an issue when it's a trans person. But two men having a tumble they can wrap their heads around? Is that what it actually is?
"Can you even imagine? With their firm, yet deeply comforting grip. Their hard and supple lips, quivering with anticipation as I come closer. Their muscles tensing under my touch..."
I'm not fishing for them, but only wife, my bank, and my chiropractor have all wished me a happy birthday. I'm sure my parents and siblings will remember at some point. Right?

Narrator: they won't.

Bluesky I need your help!

Where are my designers at?

I'm looking for great design people to follow! 🧑‍🎨

My feed is full of lovely creative developers saying reasonable things, but I need something for my eyes as well 😀

UI design, graphic design, industrial design — everything goes!

I’m not usually one to describe things as “cozy”, but in this case it fits ‘Night of the Comet’ so perfectly. 💫
4.5/5. What a great time! Classic 80s sci-fi/comedy/horror. Immaculate vibes. Well shot & directed, great cast, good music, great story. I don't know if a post-apocalyptic horror movie could normally be considered "cozy", but this one sure is. Absolutely recommended.

The UHD is a beauty. I keep both this and the 4k around. Need to have every format at my disposal 😆

The decline of third spaces and hangouts, such as malls, video rental places, arcades & skate parks has been a direct result of the rise of convenience and has also been objectively bad for society as a whole. Its not that everyone HAS to socialize, but having no option to without bars is a failing.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?
Yeah, it’s like an alternate reality. Mine are 99% Hong Kong films. Tai Seng VHS tapes were expensive. In 97 I started mail ordering VCDs and picked up a CD-I for $20 to play them.
I only have the ones that I bought in the late 90s. The novelty isn’t enough to give them room over a DVD that is superior quality.
