🌏 Black-faced Bunting (Emberiza spodocephala)

The Black-faced Bunting is a small bird with a striking grey-black head contrasting with a bright yellow belly in breeding males. It's a migratory bird, native to Asia, breeding across eastern Siberia, northern China, and Japan, and migrating to winter in Southeast Asia and the Indian Subcontinent. These buntings are often seen in small, mixed-species flocks. Their vocalizations are very short, metallic, high-pitched notes. No subspecies are generally recognised.

Conservation status: Least Concern (IUCN 3.1)

Fun fact: The bird's common name comes from the bold black markings on its face that can give it a "masked" appearance, particularly in males.

These yellow rump Myrtle warbler were everywhere in Oaxaca( Mexico) but so fidgety , hard to catch them .
I believe this one was an immature .

🌎 Ring-billed Gull (Larus delawarensis)

The Ring-billed Gull is a medium-sized gull with a white head and underparts, gray back, and black wingtips. A key feature is a black ring encircling its yellow bill and yellowish legs. Widely found across North America, often near large inland lakes, rivers, and coastal areas, especially during the breeding season. Ring-billed Gulls migrate south for winter. Highly opportunistic and social, often seen in large flocks, they feed by wading, surface-dipping, and scavenging. No subspecies are recognised. 2.5 Flash (Edited)

Fun fact: Ring-billed Gulls have been observed engaging in what appears to be play, by dropping an object while airborne and then swooping down to catch it again before it hits the ground.

The Firecrest is Europe's joint-smallest bird (along with the Goldcrest). It has an olive-green back, a white belly, bronze-coloured shoulders, and a black and white eye-stripe. The crown of the head has an orangey-yellow and black stripe from bact to front.

Okay.. I don't know what this says about my psyche as a 7 year old(?) apart from that I was into warplanes(? Helicopters, at least! 😅) but it doesn't say much about my artistic talent (apart from I had very little! 😁) Sent to me from my Mum, no date. I do quite like how I signed my name though 🙂
