I remember the first time I saw Stand By Me—in my aunt and uncle’s basement at a summer sleepover with cousins—and it was the first movie I’d seen that made me think about its messages applying to real life, notably that your realest friends are crucial and worth fighting for.

A lot of great Reiner movies but Spinal Tap being a parody of a particular style of music that thrived in a specific period of time and still managing to feel fresh and completely hilarious today despite there being a million things influenced by it is a real testament to how talented he was
