Moving my extra difficult cryptic crossword thread to here. Twitter no longer deserves it
We've started going to bed at nine thirty and ooh baby this is the good stuff. love hitting the hay
No, there’s the reference to stubble and a “dose” so Alex is definitely a trans man. Does feel like a woker version of 2003; we were initially convinced there was gonna be a dual timeline twist and the blonde 2003 teenager was gonna grow up to be Mae’s present-day pregnant wife but alas no

“Biden is not an LGBTQ Black woman” really got me
Love it when they do this
Ok yeah, good fun. we’re watching the second one now! We were a bit confused by the timelines (is it all in 2003? Was gay marriage even legal then?)
Very nice. Ok we will give it a go. Congratulations on the baby!
What actual good tv shows are there nowadays

“Old African appetiser has heart fluttering”. Meze with the middle letters flipped. It’s a Swahili word for old man apparently lol

This was a particularly bad example of the form
Will also point out that answers in this one included: ISOCHASM! KARENNI! ENDSHIP! ETHS! BASHLIK! MZEE! APPARAT! STEAN! RYOTWARI! IDEOLOGIC! ACARIDA! INGENU! TERNIONS! SDEIGN! BAALIM! TIGROID! OUTWIN! PISCEAN!
Have developed a new nemesis and it is this crossword puzzle
Hated this one. HATED IT. Really hard clues and a conceit that basically forced cold solving into an endgame requiring a tonne of assume knowledge. Anyway I did it. Here’s the grid:
Not knowing anything about Johann Strauss II this meant I spent half an hour on Wikipedia with a growing headache. Anyway his nickname was apparently THE WALTZ KING which you see if you change two letters here the end let’s never speak of this one again
After a long time & a lot of googling we see that thematic clues (extra word from extra letters FLEDERMAUS) are linked to Johann Strauss II pieces: BLUE/DANUBE, EMPEROR/WALTZ, MORNING/PAPERS, NIGHT IN/VENICE, VOICES OF/SPRING, ARTISTS/LIFE, VIENNA/BLOOD, GYPSY/BARON, CHITCHAT/POLKA, ROMAN/CARNIVAL
