In 1935 a reporter from the Vauxhall Motorist wondered how exactly road numbers worked - so he strolled down to the Ministry of Transport and asked them. His brilliantly tongue-in-cheek article, published 90 years ago, explains what he discovered. www.roads.org.uk/articles/roa...
A day at the Ministry
Back in the 1930s, car ownership was on the rise, scores of first-time motorists were hitting the roads, and road numbers were still a novelty.

I mostly play ukuleles and ocarinas. I arrange old music (mostly folk, and some classical) for them, and I talk about the instruments as well.

The death of multi-camera TV: a thread. I know most of you will know the technical parts of this (and may have read it in the other place) but bear with me. 1/ 🧵
I just searched and didn't get any results for P7ZV-3QJ. It might be worth contacting FamilySearch support if you're still seeing it?
I had to opt in to use CETs, so unless they've changed that I assume you'd have to be aware of them if you were using them! Did you upload a GEDCOM file at all?
I've seen that message before when I've been working on a CET (private tree) and it's found a duplicate in the main public tree.
I'm sure sed is technically the wrong tool for editing GEDCOM files. But if it works...

Tom Turner! Wherever you are now, I still have your Casio VL-1. In fact, I’ve just finished restoring it!

Do dankon!
Probably my favourite of the Radio 4 quizzes. Hopefully they'll find a new producer for Brain of Britain soon though!
It's the probability of any rain at all in the specified time period, which in the UK is defined as at least 0.1mm. It's calculated by running a simulation of the weather many times with a range of values for things that can't be known in advance, and counting the number of times rain is predicted.

More sketches in my black sketchbook. This time with soft pastel pencils. This might be my favorite material so far. They pop and I can still work precise with them. I hope you enjoy seeing my experiments. For me it has been fun to work with supplies I haven’t worked with for years. #Art

#langsky An interesting find! Some characters in a 1900s Welsh-language scifi speaking #Esperanto, as auxlangs have become commonplace in the world
The birb is really nice! :)
I was expecting this record ("Lithuanian Song in Esperanto") to be kinda folky, but it actually turned out to be more like easy listening!

Mi imagis ke tiu ĉi disko estus iom popolkanteca, sed fakte ĝi estas kvazaŭ "easy listening"! (Ĉu oni diras "facilan aŭskultadon"?)
