Hey #tolkien folks. Annie Grob, a wonderful musician who some of you will know from Oxonmoot has just released her first single from an album inspired by Tolkien's writings. Give it a listen and like of you have a chance.

Frodo “I wish it need not have happened in my time” Baggins
Need less ‘the call to heroism has inspired me to be who i was always meant to be!” narratives and more “this fucking sucks and I don’t want to be here but someone has to do it and goddamnit it looks like that’s me” narratives imo.

Two Things.

DERRY GIRLS. I'll have to say something about it as the series seriously surprised me, given that I had an elderly lady once said beside me: "my house is the most bombed in Northern Ireland."

STAR TREK: SA. 1st episode? Best thing I have seen in a while as a Trekkie. Hoping for more 🤩

In this new piece I’m ruminating on J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan and the complexities of Neverland: Is it a magical land or a construct of the imagination? And how does the idea of a window as a portal complicate things?

Hey, everyone, I will have to send this again via social media etc...

Google considers short urls like youtu(.)be - from Youtube itself - as a red flag for spam. This rule came into effect in December and has now spread wider on the internet.

Next RR I'll use the full URL again 😅

And the answer is.....

All are true! I was doing some research on one of the first Tolkien related fanzines and a few hints and cross references exposed me to a newszine titled Skyrack, whose editor liked Tolkien and reported some news tidbits in various issues. 1/🧵

Coming into 2026 never forget that about 99% of the internet -[1]- is just this: RAGEBAIT.

Mostly thanks to social media and adjacent territories, now massively multiplied by the rise of automated content ('25 was the first year machines produced more than we did).

[1]: anecdotal evidence.

The Oxford Word of the Year crown for 2025 has gone to 'rage bait', with our experts noting that its usage had tripled over the past 12 months.

Yep! You read that right! It's an IPA at Bardic! It's crisp with a malty backbone supporting tropical citrus notes and subtle hoppy bitterness.

17 January - The Fellowship of the Ring are led through Lothlórien and reach Cerin Amroth. 🌳

"I feel as if I was inside a song." Sam’s words perfectly capture the essence of Lothlórien.

This scene has always been one of my favourites in The Lord of the Rings.
What do you think of my depiction?
