Now, when going through hundreds of items by Google Alerts - one of the elements I am using to curate the Roving Ranger newsletter - I have recently begun to see lines like this with a number of search results.

Anyone with an SEO background here - I think that's what the summary below is, right?

... when gathering for a second breakfast - as it should be - letters from all over the world were shared, with some of them as far as New Zealand.

Namarië, Becky.

P.S. Becky has been immortalised as a Rider of Rohan and you'll be able to remember her at the Tolkien Tage. 🕯️

This morning Becky Dillon was laid to rest in the place of her choosing, beneath a beautiful tree, in the midst of a forest.

A fellowship of nine had gathered from Germany and Denmark, passages were read, among them 'Leaf by Niggle', and then,...

I have loved train travelling all of my life, even with the German Railways in their dilapidated state right now. I don't mind too much & I can share funny anecdotes on IG at #BahnfahrtLive 😂

Unfortunately, it's travelling to a funeral. I'd wish it weren't so.

Time passes - and so do we.

I organised today's Hobbit Halloween with my buddy Hannes for the @tolkien-in-jena.bsky.social regulars' table, playing tons of games & enjoying ourselves.

Someone left a sword with us - it was used for decoration - and walking through a major German city with it is quite the experience.

I love it

... developer of the game (which was fun) and insightful. 😇

We did almost 150 episodes together - and then, last year, we lost Markus to cancer. I still have not recovered from that and I still need to write about it...

Yesterday, we finally published episode 150.

He would have wanted that.

But I still have that jeans I wore with a hole in my right knee - it is now my lucky jeans that I wear whenever I need some good luck.

These are Sebastian (in red) and Markus (in bald) 😀

We were playing a new boardgame at Tillis gaming café in Jena, preparing for a podcast interview with the...

It's not that I had the money or the time, really, but when these opportunities arise I would love to simply sit in...

And then I am realising I could not possibly travel safely to the US right now... 🫣

Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of raving about Tove Jansson's HOBBIT illustrations and how Tolkien, Lewis, Lindgren, Jansson and @terrypratchett.bsky.social go together.

Also - met Tad Williams after 20+ years & he remembered our interview 🤩🤗💪

Thanks go to #Tolkien publishers Hobbitpresse

I realized it’s been a while since I properly introduced myself, so here goes:

I’m Marcel, I do curate, chat, organise, and write on all things Tolkienian, and I do it for all you lovely people with a love for Middle-earth.

Whether you’ve been here a while or just joined, I’m glad you’re here.

On my way to Frankfurt Book Fair to chat about Tove Jansson's illustrations for the HOBBIT with German publishers' Hobbitpresse latest edition - in front of several dozen book bloggers from all over the country 😊

And somewhere Tad Williams might make an appearance 😅

Slightly nervous!

IN MEMORIAM

Yesterday my beautiful friend, Becky Dillon, passed into the West.

I had written with her some time ago and she had made clear that things were heading for an end - but even if you know the end is coming the loss still remains.

Well, let's see how this one works out :)

Given that our fandom has been pretty lucky when it comes to board gaming...

Life has its ups & downs and I am sure I am not alone in feeling that the downs seem to come more often in recent weeks and months...

But to have one of my pieces mentioned with the outstandingly insightful @oxfordclarion.bsky.social makes this a splendid day. 🔝😊😁
