Next week marks a year since many abandoned the Twitter ship for good and took our chances with Bluesky. It wasn't an easy thing to do for the LC and CC communities, and some chose not to do it.

How has everyone's experience been since then? What more could be done to reconnect? What's missing?

I will keep fighting because this is bigger than any one of us.

We fight for those we’ve lost. We fight for those who can’t fight anymore. We fight for the next generation and all who will come after us.

Thank you for being in this fight with me.

Tired of being told I’m “worth less” under capitalism.

Tired of watching the world embrace eugenics and pretend they don’t notice.

I’m bad at resting, but I’m trying really hard to do it because my body needs it.

Then I will fight some more.

I’m so tired.

Tired of having to fight for basic decency.

Tired of having to fight to remain housed and fed.

Tired of having to fight for medical care.

Tired of having to try and convince the world that I matter even though I’m disabled.

I recently watched Jacinda Ardern on an interview urging people to not stop expecting good from politics but that’s exactly the opposite of the constant media messaging which is: if you expect good from politics, you’re stupid, naive and a fool. Be pragmatic, aka be hopeless.

I’m not surprised.

I’ve run clinic after clinic (when working in Paeds) seeing exhausted parents with kids that “aren’t better yet”. And that was before C19.

Why are people surprised?

The lingering shadow of epidemics: post-acute sequelae across history
The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has drawn global attention to post-acute infection syndromes (PAIS), with millions affected by post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC, or Long COVID). While Long COVID is newly ...

Scientists at Yale say long COVID is part of a “long-established family of post-acute infection syndromes.” The biggest challenge is understanding its “underlying pathobiology.” They were “surprised” how often children are affected, noting kids are also vulnerable to “long-term effects.”

And people are still writing about this today

Forty years of investigations of childhood leukaemia ‘clusters’ near nuclear installations
Although there was some low-key interest in the risk of cancer near nuclear installations before 1983, it was in this year that the subject was catapulted

TIL that childhood leukemia clusters near nuclear sites in the 80s–90s sparked a lot of fear & investigations. Detailed studies didn't support radiation as the cause & a leading hypothesis even now is that they were triggered by exposure to new childhood viral infections that spread in the towns

Please listen to the disabled person in your life.

It really IS that bad.

There is no quick fix.

The hospital can’t (or won’t) help.

We are the experts in our bodies and what we need is compassion and support, not judgement and guilt.

“If it were really that bad you would be in hospital!”

People say this to disabled folks all the time

They don’t realize that if we went to the hospital for every flare, we would live there

They don’t realize how dangerous hospital settings can be

They don’t realize how little help is available

The Australian government took my DM access away, and I can’t get it back.

I gave in and tried to pass the ID, and it rejected it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Trump using the R slur is not a mistake. It’s not a slip up. It’s not him just being a cranky old man.

He’s testing the waters.

He’s trying to see what he can get away with.

He’s furthering a eugenicist agenda.

The R Slur Must Never be Normalized
Last week Trump called Walz the 'R slur', and now his base is using it regularly. We must all speak out against this. It's a term that pushes a eugenicist agenda and feeds directly into fascism.

They knew that most people see the disabled as an expendable, so it’s easy to commit atrocities against us.
