The new two burner cooktop and cabinet arrived, but we can’t install them until Tuesday because it’s a two person job, and mom can’t help me. I’m so excited, though! Refreshed kitchen is taking shape, and it’s going to fabulous.

Normally, I walk around three miles a day, but today I walked five. In the previous three years, I was averaging less than half that. It’s wild how different my life has become, but my health is a major improvement.

At mom’s audiology appointment today, they adjusted her hearing aids, and now she keeps asking me “What’s that noise?” with alarm when I turn on the dishwasher or the refrigerator kicks on. I keep affirming these are totally normal sounds I hear all the time, but I’m not sure she believes me. 🤣

On Monday afternoon, mom has a doctor’s appointment in Bordeaux Rather than just going for that one hour appointment and coming straight home, we’re going to leave early and come home at dinner time to make a day of it. I’ll take my laptop and spend some time writing in a coffee shop. Hooray!

Cabinet number one is in! I had to get help from our handyman to complete it because it’s SUPER heavy, but I love it! He’s buying us a magnetic catch and a black knob for the door. A breadbox is on its way to sit on top and hold all the bread.
This weekend, the cooktop and cabinet go in. 🎉

Today our handyman will be here to do some tuckpointing, clearing out the summer kitchen so I can lay the flooring, and a few other outdoor jobs. IKEA is also delivering our tall kitchen cabinet, so I’ll be assembling that today. The cabinet will house our small appliances and cooking equipment. -

Today, mom and I are starting the flooring job in my tiny upstairs toilet room. So far, we have moved everything out, swept, vacuumed, and mopped. As soon as that’s dry, we’ll be laying this flooring down. It’s a very small room, so hopefully we can finish the job today!

Along with the old gas boiler furnace, the old fridge and stove have been carried away today to be recycled. The kitchen is now prepped for two new white IKEA cabinets to sit alongside the old wooden ones in the empty slots left behind by those appliances.
