A hardbound copy of Making Enemies on a wooden dining table. On the cover, a huge, pearlescent arthropod bursts out of a subterranean crevice and drives one of its large barbed claws through a dwarf fighter's abdomen, while another dwarf cowers in fear. The book is surrounded by blue and red polyhedral dice.

Wow. I've gotten literally hundreds of unsolicited text spam messages from Democratic candidates, but congratulations, @janetmills4me.bsky.social, on being the first candidate to send me two different ones on the same day.

Any TTRPG art friends looking for a quick turn around gig?

Client needs 3 humanoid character pieces (head, 1/2, full body) in a semi-realistic (think TTRPG book) fantasy art style. Full color.

Needs for next week, I’m not available.

Ideal if you have store front you can charge from (eg Etsy)

Thanks to my readers for launching MAKING ENEMIES into a terrific first week of sales!

One humble request …

If you're enjoying it, and you bought a copy from Amazon, please leave a review to counter the right-wing crank who dissed it as "PC nonsense." www.amazon.com/dp/16...

The only "wave of violence" being perpetrated is coming from the masked fascists kidnapping our neighbors and friends, tear gassing our streets, and threatening anyone who tries to speak up.

Statement from AG Pam Bondi:
Statement from AG Pam Bondi:

“Today following outreach from the DOJ, Facebook removed a large group page that was being used to dox and target ICE agents in Chicago.

The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and social media campaigns designed to put ICE officers at risk just for doing their jobs. The Department of Justice will continue engaging tech companies to eliminate platforms where radicals can incite imminent violence against federal law enforcement.”

You're just begging for someone to ask, "What's upsmon?" aren't you?

It doesn't matter whether they look "good" or "bad." It would make them look DOMINANT, and that's dangerous. Better to have people all over the place feeling bold enough to say, "You're not the boss of me."

Ah, well. I needed a good excuse to close all the tabs I have open.

Large ones being shut down by force would demoralize the nation and make the fascists' job that much easier.

Be everywhere.

Also, a few large ones can be shut down by concentrated force. A thousand geographically dispersed ones can't.

We're a dispersed country. If you want to maximize attendance, protests have to be dispersed, too.

I think they're much more effective. Because I think the only way we get out of this is for elected officials in red areas to be shown that THEIR voters have had enough, and they can't just wait out the storm in their home districts.

I genuinely thought you were going to choose a different option. The LOL I LOL'd.

Gutted to hear about the passing of @robowieland.bsky.social today.
He wrote games, wrote about games, and was a smart, passionate advocate for the TTRPG hobby. Gone too young.

Try:

It's abhorrent.
It's abusive.
It's criminal.
It's unconstitutional.
It's a flagrant violation of human rights and dignity.
It's immoral.

"Inappropriate" is taking your 10-year-old to an R-rated movie.

In 2004, Parisian police were conducting a training exercise in the french catacombs and found, after moving past a desk and a tape playing audio of snarling dogs, a fully functional movie theater and bar. When they returned 3 days later, the equipment was gone, with a note: “Do not try to find us.”
Members of the force's sports squad, responsible
- among other tasks - for policing the 170 miles of tunnels, caves, galleries and catacombs that underlie large parts of Paris, stumbled on the complex while on a training exercise beneath the Palais de Chaillot, across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower.
After entering the network through a drain next to the Trocadero, the officers came across a tarpaulin marked: Building site, No access.
Behind that, a tunnel held a desk and a closed-circuit TV camera set to automatically record images of anyone passing. The mechanism also triggered a tape of dogs barking, "clearly designed to frighten people off," the spokesman said.
Further along, the tunnel opened into a vast 400 sq metre cave some 18m underground, "like an underground amphitheatre, with terraces cut into the rock and chairs". There the police found a full-sized cinema screen, projection equipment, and tapes of a wide variety of films, including 1950s film noir classics and more recent thrillers. None of the films were banned or even offensive, the spokesman said.
A smaller cave next door had been turned into an informal restaurant and bar. "There were bottles of whisky and other spirits behind a bar, tables and chairs, a pressure-cooker for making couscous," the spokesman said.
"The whole thing ran off a professionally installed electricity system and there were at least three phone lines down there."
Three days later, when the police returned accompanied by experts from the French electricity board to see where the power was coming from, the phone and electricity lines had been cut and a note was lying in the middle of the floor: "Do not," it said, "try to find us."

They shouldn't even address Vought. They should address the public about how they plan to PROSECUTE Vought when voters return them to power. If they can convince a court that they have standing, they should SUE Vought. They have no business PLEADING with him, which is how this statement comes off.
