Something that the movies Conspiracy and Downfall did was to humanize the Nazis. Because at the end of the day, they were humans, they had joy, they smiled, they had friends. And did horrific things. And so we must never forget that the face of evil is not some monster, but human.
I was targeted by the far right for a Twitter thread I wrote about the smiling face of whiteness -- that is, gleeful white supremacy -- several years back.
