This was 10x more interesting than the title. TIL that several zelda games, including the very first one (!) as well as Echos & Awakening's remake, only exist because Nintendo was *trying* to make a dungeon building game and it kept not working so they pivoted.

So this was insanely fun, and my first time doing something like it (aside from go karting): Motor track day at the CA BMW performance center, where we learned how to push Mini Coopers to the limit!

This video was my best run - landing me a silver medal for the day #racing #mini #cooper #irl

New one-click setup buttons working in action, making it easier to discover and actually start using the #godot Road Generator #addon with Terrain3D. The setting panel is procedural, so in theory we can add other connectors/you can define your own (missing plugin hooks to do so for now though)

Making a desktop pet instead of an "actual game" was a risk, but got me to round two of the #gdko jam! Though... next round's theme is "multifunctional level(s)", no idea how imma do that when it's just a floating transparent guy in the corner of your screen 😅 theduckcow.itch.io/blobie-nakie...

Took longer than I feel it should have, but got this dynamic-y settings panel. Kind of emulates the export vars section of the Inspector Panel to link together settings in two places without hard coding. #godot #road #addon

Ever feel like you're stuck on a path, and just wish there were different forks to take? Well now you can - at least if you're making a road game in #Godot! Check out procedural intersections and more in our latest #devlog

This is a call for testers - check the link!

When your database utilization looks like a star constellation.

Fast forward 1 week, and I've got myself a cute lil #godot desktop pet!

This is my entry to this year's #gdko #gamejam round 1, focussed on customization - if I make it to the next round, I'll work on this guy a bit more. But in case you want him now:

I've always been impressed with the engineering of floating bridges... but I guess I've always misunderstood what they meant by "floating"!

Messing around with multi / transparent window stuff. It's uhhhhhh going? Let's see where i can take this #gamejam #gdko

Big kudos to this demo #godot project because fiddling with settings on my own wasn't getting me far github.com/geegaz/Multi...

My first #blender "animation" of the year, which was a random self demo to help respond to a youtube comment asking how to store datablocks for reuse later in the context of the NLA editor. Always kinda fun mashing actions together like this hehe.

Did you know that about 100 trillion neutrinos pass through your body like every second? And once you wear this beanie, ... you'll still have as many passing through.

To be fair this is irrelevant the faraday beanie's claims, I just find neutrinos kinda neat.

On an NYE whim I flipped through some old work. Sometimes I'm so engrossed in game dev (or trying to make time for it) I forgot about those older pieces I used to be so proud of. I don't really make scenes like this anymore but was always kind of fun. Done in #Blender in 2014, early days of Cycles.

Took ages but I finally got there - the new connection tool UX and refactor is done so you can now create, move, delete, and dissolve all your road points + procedural intersections with ease.

While reworking the connection UX tool for intersections, I got fed up with not having these shortcuts - already with the side adventure! Coming in the next Road Generator update, but still a WIP #godot #road #generator #addon

Very scary and sad to see the devastating floods of our nearby counties and cities - 100K person evacuation is wild, looks like hurricane damage. Happily donated to one of the official funds, one of those "every bit helps" even if it is a long road to recovery regardless:

The same road you know and love from the last post, now in HD!

(ie me testing with more realistic textures for once, and noting down lots of areas to eliminate repeating and stretching... but, not half bad to begin with, even with the intersection??) #godot #godotengine #road #gamedev

Procedural intersection coming along. In this scenario, showing off how you can turn a forked exit into an add lane exit. Obviously, would need another type of UV/mesh generator longer term for this use case, but it's already super cool having it interactive like this. #godot #addon #procgen
